About Dr. Peter J. Pappas

Initial consultation may be with an assistant provider. Dr. Pappas is a board-certified General and Vascular Surgeon. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey's Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 1987. He completed his General Surgery Residency at Cooper Hospital-University Medical Center in 1993, then went on to finish a Vascular Surgery Fellowship at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Following his fellowship, Dr. Pappas remained on the faculty at New Jersey Medical School for 15 years, rising to full Professor of Surgery and serving as Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery, Medical Director of the Non-invasive Vascular Laboratory, and Program Director for both the Vascular and General Surgery residency programs. In 2010, he became Chairman of the Department of Surgery at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Pappas has held leadership roles in numerous professional societies-including President of the Vascular Society of New Jersey and the American Venous Forum-and is nationally recognized for his basic science and clinical research in venous disease. A distinguished reviewer for the Journal of Vascular Surgery, he has authored 66 peer-reviewed publications and 30 book chapters. His academic work earned him a five-year NIH grant to study venous ulceration pathophysiology and the inaugural JOBST Research Fellowship in Venous and Lymphatic Disease.

The receptionist told me upon my arrival that they had to cancel my appt bc the dr did not come in that day. When I asked why they didn’t call me she said she did. When I asked why she didn’t leave a message bc I traveled a distance and paid bridge and other tolls and gas for a round trip of 1.5 hours of driving, she said my voice mail was full. It was not full. My daughter called me and it went to vm. Upon checking, I saw she called me around 9AM, did not choose to leave a message and never called again for a 3pm appt. And never said she was sorry for any of it. Inconsiderate, inefficient, incapable of doing her job.
