About Dr. Peter Ottavio
Dr. Peter Ottavio has been a practicing physician for 22 years, specializing as a pulmonary, critical care, and sleep physician for the past 16 years. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. He completed his internship, residency, and fellowship training at Stony Brook University Medical Center. For the past decade, Dr. Ottavio has served as a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Mather and Stony Brook University Hospital. His goal is to provide the highest possible care in the areas of Sleep Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine for his patients.

I've never setup a MYCHART with Optum so I arrived early and did all of that at a kiosk in the lobby. I got upstairs 10 min before my appt and the receptionist finished what needed to be done. I also wanted to split my copayment so they were easily able to cancel the payment made at the kiosk and manually split the payment. Then at 10:30 on the DOT I was called in! ON THE DOT. The assistant was lovely. We chatted & she took my vitals. I did breathing tests with a tech about 15 min later. Then I finally saw the doctor at about 11, 11:05 and he was wonderful. Really great bedside manner. He explained tests I had previously done at Mt. Sinai in much more detail than my PC. Highly recommend this whole practice.

Dr. Ottavio is an excellent doctor. This was my first time seeing him. He was patient, knowledgeable, friendly and extremely thorough. I was able to have a full work up right in office and was out in an hour. I liked him so much I’m switching my daughter’s pulmonologist to him. Thanks Doc!

Dr. Ottavio was very understanding and took the time to ask questions about my symptoms. He was very diligent with ordering the diagnostic tests. The tests were all done within that visit, which was amazing! Dr. Ottavio explained the results to me, and was very efficient at breaking it down for me. I highly recommend this doctor.

Dr. Peter Ottavio was wonderful. My son had an appointment for an asthma issue and he was very thorough with the exam. Did not rush through the appointment and gave us information and advised us to follow up if any issues arise. I hightly recommend this doctor.

Dr. Ottavio is a great choice if you are looking for a pulmonologist. He really seems to care about his patients and takes the extra step to make sure they are being cared for appropriately.

The doctor was amazing. He was thorough, took care of all of my concerns, and his staff were friendly. I drove in from NYC (you can ride LIRR though) because all the good pulmonologists in the city were booked up for months. Honestly I was so happy that I booked up with him.

The wait time was extremely long in my opinion. I wasn’t seen by the doctor till an hour after my appointment. He did apologize for the wait and thanked me for my patience, but I really don’t appreciate waiting that length of time.

Dr. spent time with me to go over all issues I complained about and also performed breathing test personally, he was never in a rush took his time to go everything wrong talked about.I would highly recommend Dr. ottavio to friends and family.
