He stays current in best practices regarding pain control agents, therapies, and pain management for both knee and hip patients. After graduation from Davidson College, he attended medical school at the University of Florida and then orthopedic residency and adult reconstruction fellowship training at Duke University Medical Center. He was recruited by a growing local orthopedic private practice and quickly became a leader there as medical director of the orthopedic group EmergeOrtho in Durham North Carolina. formerly Triangle Orthopedics. As Chair of Orthopedics at Duke Regional Hospital, he served on the executive council of the hospital, interacting with both private practice and hospital hired physicians. After 18 years of service to the Durham Community and his practice, he returned to Florida to help with his aging mother's healthcare and started a solo private practice based on refining the concept of outpatient joint replacement. He continued to develop better strategies to treat pain post hip and knee replacement and attained a new leadership role as part owner and medical director for Legacy Ambulatory Surgical Center in Tampa Florida. Dr. Clifford was then recruited to assist with Northwell's Orthopedic department growth in Westchester County. Specifically, joint replacement volume growth at Phelps Hospital but also through growth of all orthopedic subspecialties throughout Westchester County and beyond as Northwell grows and expands to meet and exceed the needs of the communities in the areas we serve.
