Getting to know Dr. Priscilla Newsom

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered mental health care across the lifespan. I offer comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive therapy, working closely with each individual to develop a treatment plan tailored to their unique needs. My goal is to help patients navigate their mental health journey with confidence, dignity, and a sense of empowerment. I treat individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), as well as other psychiatric conditions across varying levels of complexity and severity. I am deeply passionate about improving access to high-quality mental health services and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health treatment. By staying informed on current research and best practices, I aim to provide thoughtful, up-to-date care that supports meaningful, lasting progress and long-term wellness.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to care is holistic and collaborative, integrating evidence-based medication management with therapeutic interventions, education, and practical strategies to support overall well-being. I am currently training in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Spravato® (esketamine) therapy under the guidance of the clinic director, Prisca Nwizugbo, and am able to refer for these services to individuals living with major depressive disorder.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I strongly believe that effective mental health care is built on trust, empathy, and open communication. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where patients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their treatment decisions. I value shared decision-making and encourage patients to take an active role in identifying their goals and shaping their care.

I look forward to my future appointments with Priscilla. She listens to my concerns and cares about my life & my well being. I haven’t felt comfortable opening up to many people about my depression/anxiety but she makes it easy and judgement free. I believe she has me on the right path with my new medication and I am excited to have finally gotten the help I need to become a happier person for myself and my family. I would recommend her to my friends and family members.
