About Dr. Priya Chhikara

Priya Chhikara, M.D. is a board certified General Surgeon and junior partner at Canady Surgical Group. She is a staff surgeon at the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center in Largo, MD, and at UM Laurel Medical Center in Laurel, MD. Dr. Chhikara completed her dual BA degrees in biology and psychology at the University at Albany, State University of NY. She received her medical degree at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY and completed her surgical training at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Chhikara is a broadly-trained general surgeon with an interest in laparoscopic surgery, acute care surgery, complex abdominal and intestinal surgery, colon surgery, hernia surgery, breast surgery, skin and soft tissue surgery, and gallbladder surgery. Her research interests include the surgical management of breast cancer, as well as the effects of weight loss surgery. Dr. Chhikara strives to promote patient education and ensure her patients feel comfortable and understand their treatment options. She is currently accepting new patients and is excited to welcome them to Canady Surgical Group.
