Dietitian
MI
Rachel is a highly educated and skilled Registered Dietitian and Diabetes Educator who completed her Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Biology and Master of Science (MS) in Nutrition and Human Metabolism from Boston University. Her interest in the field began after taking a Nutrition class in college and was amplified by her own struggles with food, weight, and body image issues. This personal journey sparked a desire to learn more about helping herself, which grew into a passion to help others. Rachel also completed an Internship in Dietetics at Newton Wellesley Hospital, further strengthening her clinical foundation. Rachel?s early career began as a research dietitian working to improve gut functionality in patients with short bowel syndrome. She then spent several years consulting with a variety of insurance companies, corporate wellness programs, providing individual wellness counseling, and teaching group exercise classes. A move to Los Angeles led Rachel to work for the Greater VA Los Angeles Healthcare System as an outpatient dietitian, where she specialized in Women?s Health for Veterans and Diabetes Education. Her most recent position was as an acute care dietitian in a community hospital, where she gained extensive experience caring for acute care conditions complicated by underlying chronic medical issues. During this time, Rachel provided diabetes education for all inpatient consults and covered the outpatient oncology cancer center, which has a heavy focus on gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. Over the years, Rachel has witnessed many diet trends, fad diets, weight loss schemes, and unrealistic promises from the industry. This experience puts her in a unique position to empower her clients to make informed choices and meaningful changes for their own lives. Rachel has most enjoyed and excelled at working one-on-one with people, helping them reduce chronic disease risk and achieve a healthy lifestyle.
