She is very pleasant, too rushed and gone before you even know the appointment is over. Its almost silly how few minutes/seconds she is willing to spend with the patient. My feeling-assembly line.

Never come here, for anything! You have been warned. Even though I went in specifically to get a prescription for Accutane, the people that work there do not care about you at all and they are bad at handling conflict whena patient brings up an issue. Their response is to smile to your face and talk terribly behind their patients' back when the walls are thin and we can hear what they are saying outside the patients' room. So it does not matter what you are seeing them for, the staff are completely rude and disrespectful, which is horrible when a patient is coming to their offices and bringing them business just to be treated poorly. I have only made two visits with Dr. Bak and have had the most terrible experience, most notably my most recent visit. To start off, I went in for a prescription of Accutane for my skin on my first visit. Now with this prescription, you absolutely cannot be pregnant while taking this medication and must be registered through the iPledge program in order to meet their requirements. I had started the process already while I was insured under Kaiser; however, because I started a new job at a different company, I now had a different insurance with PPO and therefore had to switch providers. I explained all of this when I entered Dr. Bak's office and had all of the paperwork from Kaiser there to show for it. The nurse that took me in was named Rosemary. Even my first encounter with Rosemary wasn't the greatest as I felt like my visit was very rushed (especially for a new patient) as I explained to her the purpose of my visit and my need for guidance on getting Accutane. Let's just say her demeanor the entire time was rather aloof. However, she relayed to Dr. Bak that I had already gone through the registration process with iPledge with my previous healthcare provider but now needed to transfer providers in the iPledge website. Dr. Bak was pleasant when I first met her, although the visit was quite short. I assumed it was because I had completed the iPledge paperwork and provided lab results from Kaiser for the month prior. But I was still surprised that she did not explain anything to me, like if there is anything I should or shouldn't be doing/consuming while on the medication. For example, don't go out in the sun, wear sunblock, don't take vitamin A supplements, how I should be cleansing my face from now on, if I can still continue getting facials, etc. She explained nothing to me, I just learned a little by Googling this information. All that was explained to me was for me to transfer providers over to them and then do a pregnancy test. Which I did all within the same day and followed direction exactly with the forms that were provided to me. However, when I completed the pregnancy test, I was surprised that they did a urine test over a blood test since Kaiser had previously required me to get blood drawn because the results are more precise. But I didn't think anything of it then since this was the form that Rosemary provided me with and I just gave it to the lab that was in the same facility. My follow up appointment was scheduled for a month later on 6/7/18, but then it was postponed to the following week. However, they only called me the day before the original appointment to tell me that Dr. Bak would need to reschedule me; but I was at work and I could not answer. They weren't able to leave a voicemail since I have a new phone where I haven't had a chance to set up my voice inbox. But they had cancelled my appointment after only 1 attempt to reach me without even trying to send an email, text message or call back again at a later time. I only learned this the next day on the morning of my appointment when I called to see if anything changed. I was told that my appointment was cancelled and would need to reschedule since Dr. Bak would be out. Seriously, what if I had not called and just drove all the way to the office just to be told that my appointment was cancelled? Luckily for me I did call! I asked why was it cancelled when I confirmed my appointment via zocdoc that emailed me for confirmation and sent me text updates. The nurse just told me that they tried to call me earlier but my voice mailbox wasn't set up as she was so quick to put responsibility on me, which was weird. They only made 1 attempt and didn't even try to email/text or call again. Very very poor communication at this office. Anyway, when trying to reschedule, the nurse suggested the following Wednesday for the same time. But I told her next Wednesday was not good for me, to which she responded with a heavy sigh and then proceeded to ask me in a sarcastic tone "Then what day works for you?". To my dismay with her response, I simply told her that the following Thursday would work better for me. Now at my second appointment, I am taken in by Rosemary again where she immediately asks me if I had completed the blood work that she had given me forms for at my last visit. I told her that I only did the urine test last month that was based on the forms that was provided to me. She was flippant and had assumed that I should know that I need to complete the pregnancy tests via blood work within a week prior to coming in monthly. I was confused because I told her that this wasn't entirely explained to me at the first visit. I asked why the blood test wasn't done when I came in last time, where she responded by expressing a bit of attitude and said that she did not know. I told her that I stopped taking the medication a week ago because my face was becoming irritatingly dry and I was breaking out a bit. My lips were super dry as well. So much so that it was hurting to move them, even to talk or smile because they would tear and start bleeding. I would be embarrassed to go out and have people see me. Rosemary left to inform Dr. Bak and then Dr. Bak came in with someone (to shadow her I assume). I told Dr. Bak my concern about the dryness, which I sort of expected from my research, but it was too much for me to handle. I expressed my worry over the dryness and how bad it was. Dr. Bak assured me that it would be temporary and that it's ok that I stopped the medication for now. She said that she would lower the dosage/concentration for me and to get my blood work done. It was a quick visit again; before I could ask her a few more questions she was already up and ready to leave the room. They closed the door but I could hear Dr. Bak outside talking to either Rosemary or the other doctor shadowing her about the course of treatment, to which she had sounded differently than when she was in the room with me. I guess they were thrown off by the fact that I didn't have my bloodwork done and Dr. Bak explained that she wanted to see if there were any other factors that may come up with my reaction to the medication. A few minutes later, Rosemary comes back in to hand me two forms for blood work to test for pregnancy. She spoke too quickly that I wanted to verify the next steps with these forms, so I just clarified with her what I am supposed to do by trying to regurgitate what both forms meant. She answered me in a very curt manner and exhibited a little bit of attitude, to which I was no longer going to tolerate. I asked her if she could bring in Dr. Bak back in once more for a few more questions. Once Dr. Bak returned, I said very calmly "first of all, I would like to engage with another nurse since Rosemary had terrible bedside manner." Before I could even explain why, Dr. Bak quickly apologized and said that this is the first time that this has happened. It did not feel sincere or like she wanted to know why I felt this way since she was not interested in learning how her team can better serve her patients. However, I just told her that Rosemary was quite rude to me when I wanted to clarify the next steps for me to follow and what the forms were meant for. Rosemary had said that this was all explained in the documentation that I signed on my first visit and that I should know. But how am I going to remember what I signed over a month ago? And her demeanor was very off-putting and disrespectful. Dr. Bak quickly said that she would have another nurse come instead. Then I proceeded to ask her more about what I can do in the meantime about the dryness and if what I'm currently using to moisturize is good in her opinion. Once she left the room, I heard her outside explain to Rosemary about my complaint about her. I heard the biggest laugh come out of her as I found it appalling that she would think that being extremely rude to a concerned patient is funny. Later, another nurse came in and asked me how I was doing. I responded with, "A lot better now that I have you instead of Rosemary. She was laughing so hard I could hear her through the walls." The nurse did not seem to care and projected a fake smile. I'm not sure if the nurse was even trying to listen to me because while I was in the middle of saying the above she quickly apologized and did not seem to pay much attention to the fact that I told her that I could hear through the walls. The new nurse handed me a bag with different moisturizing samples that Dr. Bak had discussed with me earlier. I followed the new nurse out to the counter to book a follow up appointment where she left me with the receptionist. The receptionist had booked an appointment for a month later. She then informed me that Dr. Bak would not be able to see me and if I was ok with seeing Dr. Kay. It looked like Dr. Bak no longer wanted to have me as a patient for bringing up Rosemary's bad bedside manner to her attention. I confirmed with the receptionist that I don't mind. As I walked out of the office, I encountered Rosemary coming out from another door. As we passed each other down the hall I told her that she was rude. No response. I decided from that point on that I was never coming back here and that I would find a different dermatologist. I still went through with the lab work so that I can get this last prescription since I had already come all the way down. Within the next week I had not heard from anyone about my lab tests and my prescription refill. I had called in between though and never got through to anyone. I left 2 messages with no call back. I called the desk operator and explained the situation and they looked into it for me. I was told that I have been discharged and that she would direct me to the office manager to speak more. Once I was directed to the office manager she explained the situation further. She got some information from me and explained that I needed to go into the iPledge website and answer some questions before they can release the refill. Apparently every time I get a refill I need to answer questions on iPledge before they can provide the prescription every month. I told her that this was never once explained to me as something that I needed to do every month. And if I had not done this within a week after my test results confirmed no pregnancy, then I would have to do the lab tests again. That seems like it was done purposely. Then she said that they had sent me a letter to discharge me, which I never got until a week later after my last appointment. But when I spoke with her I had not received the letter yet. And here I was waiting on my medication refill without anyone reaching out to me about what needed to happen. Again, the poor and lack of communication is absurd at this office. But the office manager said that the nurses had reported me for mistreatment and use of profanity, which is why they had discharged me. I was at a loss of words. I clarified with the office manager that there was absolutely no use of profanity at all with any of the nurses. She specified that the new nurse that came to replace Rosemary had said I used profanity. Of course I was shocked. The nurse hardly paid any attention to me to begin with and was now falsely accusing me of using profanity. Not only was this callow of her to stoop so low on a patient she did not even know, but using profanity is not within my daily language even if I am upset by maltreatment. I didn't even bother to ask the office manager what she accused me of saying because from that point on I knew she was in collusion with Rosemary to no longer have me come in to the doctor's office. As I briefly explained to the office manager how things were actually handled, she said that she would go ahead and speak with Rosemary and the new nurse. But as of now they have discharged me before I found another dermatologist, which I am completely fine with since my intention was to never return anyway. But never have I had such a horrible experience with a clinic where the staff would literally mistreat a patient and then turn it around on the patient who speaks up bout the issue. This place is completely unprofessional with no regard for the patient; we are just a number to them as they swiftly try to get through each patient on a daily basis. They lack of communication and good bedside manner. If this is how they react to a patients' complaint on a staff member by discharging them based on extreme and false accusations, they are running their business quite poorly and will eventually see consequences.

It was an amazing experience! Dr. Bak is a personable, funny, intelligent, conscientious and thorough professional. From my first visit (for a diagnosis), to my most recent visit (for a procedure which she performed), Dr. Bak treated me withthe utmost compassion, patience and care. She showed genuine empathy for me when she first say my condition; she answered all of the questions I had about the paperwork and procedure options before treatment was administered, and she was gentle and conversational while working on me -- which helped me to remain relaxed and calm.

I received repeated emails/texts telling me to be there for my appointment time then had to wait over 30 minutes. No WiFi was available so I was unable to keep up with my work. This was a follow-up appointment. When Ifinally got into a treatment room, the nurse/assistant started to prep me for a procedure even though the doctor had told previously I probably wouldn't need it. I asked to see the doctor who couldn't even find the scar from last month and told me the procedure wasn't necessary. I spent all of 5 minutes with the doctor but lost over 2 hours with travel and wait time. I'm curious what I will be charged. The doctor is very nice but I've found both experiences before seeing her to be frustrating.

Earlier this year i was seen by Dr. Bak for hives & it was because of body heat. Since then my rash has escalated & I itch constantly. I also have bumps under my skin besides the red rash now. Theplan is biopsy & to see an allergist. Until the authorization she's prescribed an ointment with mild cortisone. It's helped me tremendously.

Dr Bak is great but the front desk team is not. As I was signing in the man sitting at the front was texting. I had to say excuse me to get his attention after standing there for a few minutes.I had to tell him to scan my insurance card. Then after waiting 45 minutes I went back up to check what was taking so long. There was a new lady sitting there. She didn't know I was waiting and had to ask someone to pull my chart. It seemed the first person took my sticker off the list but did nothing with it. Once I finally got to a Room the nurse told me it would be a while because I was after a few people. This made no sense since I specifically requested the first appointment of the day. Your staff simply forgot I was there and wasted a lot of my time. I can't plan to have any work meetings on a morning I come in because I simply can't trust you will get me in and out on time.

We highly recommend Dr Bak especially for teenagers who have acne and skin problems.
