From undergrad to graduate school, Rachel worked for several years as a patient care technician & phlebotomist in the hospital and as well as a medical scribe in the emergency room. Afterward, she graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University with a Master of Science in Medicine, with a focus in Physician Assistant Studies. In graduate school, she completed 17 months of didactic work in the classroom and 1 year of hands-on clinical rotations, conducted in various counties across Tennessee. During rotations, she worked in the fields of Dermatology, Family, Emergency, Vascular Surgery, Mental & Behavioral Health, Women’s Health, Pediatric, and Internal Medicine. Rachel was personally drawn to Dermatology while rotating with Dr. Nelson at Stones River Dermatology. Here, she had the privilege of learning a variety of skills which include excisional, shave & punch biopsies, full body skin exams, aesthetic treatments, patient education, and numerous dermatologic medical treatments. As of August 2024, she is board certified via the Physician Assistant National Certification Exam and has obtained her Physician Assistant Tennessee State License. By April of 2025, she will have also completed 5 months of one-on-one training with Dermatology PA-C, Lindsay Hayler. Mrs. Clay is very excited to be a part of Pinnacle’s team of impeccable dermatology experts and is passionate about the mission to provide exceptional patient care. She states, “I want the patients of Pinnacle Dermatology to know that I am ready and willing to serve them, to help restore their skin to its full potential, and to make lasting relationships along the way.”
