“I worked with Dr. Forman for about two years and she has helped me work through a lot of issues and also understand the origin of my thoughts. By doing so, I began understanding myself better and being able to pinpoint conflicts and better work with them that I otherwise would have trouble coping with. I highly recommend her! ”

“Dr. Forman was extremely helpful for me in talking through my past and current anxieties. She was always patient in my process of explaining how I was feeling, and supplied some insight when I could not find the right words. She also helped me realize when I was over thinking or being down on myself by putting things into perspective in a way that resonated with me. She was always on time and very flexible if I needed to move my usual appointment time around. Overall it was a very beneficial experience.”

Getting to know Dr. Rachel Forman

Therapy is a unique process aimed at achieving a sense of personal freedom and growth across all facets of life. This may involve taking a closer look at your relationships with family members, romantic relationships, friendships or your career - all areas of great meaning. It may also involve working through feelings of being stuck, of sadness, grief, loss, or past traumatic experiences. In our work together I will encourage you to closely reflect upon your emotional and relational patterns with the goal of establishing a deeper and more authentic connectedness with yourself and others. Through a psychodynamic and psychoanalytic framework, I provide a space where patients feel comfortable working through the challenges they face. I provide therapy to adults and adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, stress and overwhelm related to transitional stages in life, and to those who are searching for a stronger sense of self. I work frequently with high achieving individuals, first-generation Americans, individuals from mixed cultural or religious backgrounds, and those who were adopted. I firmly believe in the uniqueness of each individual and as such, remain flexible in my approach to treatment. I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Pace University and a Master’s in General Psychology from New York University (NYU). I completed a postdoctoral Fellowship in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at the Karen Horney Clinic. I currently also work as a Clinical Supervisor at the Metropolitan Center for Mental Health. Upon booking an appointment through Zocdoc I will reach out to schedule a free phone introduction prior to our first session. Rachel helped me in more ways than I can convey. She was with me through the darkest times of COVID and was a catalyst to some of my biggest break throughs. I’ve had gone through a few therapists prior and I was almost ready to give up until I met Rachel. She makes it very easy to open up, not judgemental, and offers real insight. I highly recommend especially if like me struggle with a positive relationship with the self!
