About Dr. Rachel Gilmore
Dr. Rachel Gilmore is a third-generation dermatologist, born and raised in Texas and currently serving the New York City area.
She attended Yale University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry, researched herpes virus therapeutics in Biomedical Engineering, and completed research internships at a New York City pharmaceutical company. Subsequently, she performed virology research in Nobel laureate Charlie Rice’s lab at Rockefeller University in New York City. Her undergraduate and research work inspired her to pursue a medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
Dr. Gilmore completed her internship in general surgery at University of California Irvine, obtaining experience in the Melanoma Center. She completed dermatology residency at New York Medical College in New York City, where she served as surgical dermatology chief in her final year. She received extensive training in complex medical dermatology, dermatologic surgery, cosmetics, pediatric dermatology, and skin of color, and contributed to scholarly articles.
Dr. Gilmore is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and participates in regular journal clubs. Her clinical expertise includes acne, alopecia, eczema and itch, psoriasis, warts, keloids, ear lobe repair, surgical excision of benign and malignant lesions, rare skin conditions, and cosmetic procedures. Dr. Gilmore is committed to providing a patient-centered approach to all treatment plans.
When not seeing patients, Dr. Gilmore enjoys work shifts as a member of the Park Slope Food Co-op, meeting other Brooklyn dog parents with her husky-akita Lily, growing heirloom tomatoes, staying active in Prospect Park, and doing physical therapy to return to marathon/half-marathon running, a passion of 20-years.

Dr. Gilmore was so meticulous and thorough! Her knowledge and intelligence made me very comfortable. I traveled all the way from Staten Island and it was worth the ride. I highly recommend her! She checked on little moles and blemishes that my last doctor didnt even look at. She's not that good!

I was seen by PA-C Tinely Chen, who was incredibly kind and professional. I had been treated for over four weeks for a skin condition that just wasn’t improving. Within minutes of examining my skin, she noticed a subtle but important difference that had been missed before. Her keen eye and expertise led to the correct diagnosis, and upon starting the new treatment, my condition started to clear up drastically. I’m truly grateful for her care and attention to detail.
