About Dr. Rachel Kang
Dr. Rachel Baisch Kang graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Macalester College. She then received her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine with honors from William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine. During her studies, she was awarded multiple scholarships, held numerous leadership positions, and published original research.
Dr. Kang completed her residency training at Gundersen Medical Foundation where she received the added credential in Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery. At Gundersen, she worked amongst world renowned and well-published faculty. Additionally, Dr. Kang served as Chief Resident and coached skaters at the local rinks.
Dr. Kang presented and published her original research titled, "Benefits of Custom Skate Orthoses in Improved Balance Amongst Advanced Skaters", which won third place in the Outstanding Student and Resident category at the American Podiatric Medical Association Annual Scientific Meeting. During her time at Gundersen, she presented posters and manuscripts at national conferences, and continued to publish articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Kang's devotion to Foot and Ankle Sports Medicine is rooted in her own experience with competitive and professional figure skating as well as her own foot injury. As a skater, Dr. Kang competed for the Korean Junior National Team, and skated at international level events. When her family moved back to the U.S., she continued to compete at the regional, sectional and national level. She was the Junior National Figure Skating Collegiate Champion in 2004. Following college, she skated professionally with the Royal Caribbean International ® Cruise Lines. A foot injury prevented Dr. Kang from continuing her professional skating career, but the care provided by a Foot and Ankle Specialist sparked her interest in the world of podiatry. Dr. Kang can personally relate to the enthusiasm and frustrations of an injured elite athlete. Dr. Kang's goals are centered on realistic treatment plans for athletes, return to sport, and a lifetime of competition.
Dr. Kang is excited to be joining the Foot and Ankle Center of Kirkland and Issaquah and is now seeing new patients.

The Issaquah office of Dr. Rachel Kang contacted me prior to my appointment with new patient's documents needed to be filled. I also got reminder by text and email about the appointment day and time.
I didn't have to wait, and was taken to the room right away. Dr. Kang was thorough, and attentive. She explained all the options for the treatment. She requested a blood test to make sure that the intended medications are acceptable to my body.
The appointment was made for the procedures we decided to do.
Next day a medical team member called me that the blood test is good, and the medications ordered.
I had to make a call to the office to change the pharmacy location for the prescribed meds, and was connected without any waiting to a medical team member. Just a few minutes later they called me back confirming the prescription transfer.
I highly recommend Dr. Rachel Kang to to all the other patients!

Very quick X-ray before seeing Dr. Kang. The doctor took the time to thoroughly explain what I might expect from my insurance carrier if I got an orthotic insole, and took my Physical Therapist's information to coordinate with them during the appointment. We ended the appointment with a plan for further treatment should PT not be enough. Dr. Kang's personality has been very upbeat and positive throughout every appointment and it's a joy to be seen.

The appointment was fantastic. They took me into the room right away and then had some x-rays taken. Then went back to the room and waited just a short bit before the Dr. came in to talk to me. She was really good at asking questions about my injury and took the time to really listen and understand. She made a clear plan and it was a great visit. I would go back. What stood out for me is that she treated my issues directly. She definitely explain to me why surgery would not benefit me. And that was extremely helpful as I felt that as well. i literally can’t even describe what a bright, smiley person dr. kang is. i actually am so blessed to have these disgusting ingrown toenails because it led me to her, haha! i have NEVER met a doctor as smiley and kind as her. she is seriously unreal, she’s like a sitcom character. i’m so excited for my upcoming surgery because i get to see her again lol.
