Dr. Ghanbari is a psychiatrist and neuroscientist specializing in adult psychiatry and psychopharmacology. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine and holds a PhD in Neuroscience from the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group. He provides psychiatric evaluations and medication management to adults for anxiety, depression, insomnia, post-traumatic stress disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and bipolar psychotic disorders. Dr. Ghanbari recognizes the importance of both pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy in achieving better clinical outcomes. He enjoyed helping veterans achieve their mental health goals at Durham VA Medical Center. Dr. Ghanbari collaborates with his patients and customizes treatment approaches based on each patient's unique needs and goals.
He also provides transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to patients with depression who have not achieved a significantly meaningful benefit from medications.

He was very professional and also very compassionate. He was able to talk to me and create a treatment plan all within our first visit. He was very exceedingly knowledgeable, which you would think would be standard with psychiatrists, but I assure you it is not. Would definitely recommend his care to a friend or anyone who is really looking to pinpoint the correct diagnosis.

I have been taking the same medications since I was 13 years old (I’m 30 now) and the Dr on my first (and last) visit wanted to alter my medication doses by over 70%. In addition, he treated me like I was subhuman and has an egotistical way of speaking down to you. Avoid!

Dr. Ghanbari was fantastic. Hadn’t been to a psychiatrist in a few years so I was a bit anxious, but Dr. Ghanbari really put me at ease. I felt very comfortable talking to him. He listened very well and throughly explained his recommendations.
