About Dr. Randa Jaafar
Dr. Randa Jaafar is an American graduate of Wayne State University in her hometown of Detroit, Michigan, where she earned her Doctor of Medicine degree. She completed her internship and residency in Anesthesiology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Jaafar developed an interest in pain management after working under her world-renowned pain management mentor, Dr. Salim Hayek. She then traveled to the Big Apple to complete a pain fellowship at Cornell University Medical College in Manhattan's Upper East Side. Dr. Jaafar practiced at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, as an anesthesia and pain management attending. Now, she has made her way back into private practice in Manhattan's Upper East Side once again. Dr. Jaafar specializes in pain management treatments including, but not limited to, trigger points, epidurals, facet blocks, TMJ injections, medical marijuana, PRP injections, knee, shoulder, and hip injections, as well as Botox for both migraines and excessive sweating.

Went for lower back muscle pain. Wasn’t seen by the provider listed on the app, was seen by the PA. Didn’t even do a thorough examination or physical check up to see where the pain came from and recommended epidural injections immediately which seems a bit extreme given the pain only started a few days ago. Felt very rushed and wasn’t explained the issue thoroughly

I was asked to come in early only to be seen after my original appointment time. I didn't get my Rx in a timely manner. The pharmacy was waiting for the Dr to get back to them with more information on filling the Rx. Because I saw the Dr on Friday and they were closed until Monday, I was in pain all weekend. When I called the office to get a summary of my visit, it took 3 days to get the form. After finally receiving it, it wasn't what I needed. When I called back the assistant whom I spoke to argued with me and insisted it was the correct form. As we were on the phone I sent her what she sent me which clearly wasn't what she was reading off. When she finally stopped speaking over me and actually looked at what I sent her, she realized they messed up on their end. I was diagnosed only to be told after her diagnosis is not fact. It needs to be seen through an MRI scan. Overall it was a very unpleasant experience and I will not be going back.

I came in for a severe back pain. I am no medical expert but I wasn't touched a single time to see what was wrong and immediately offered some sort of injection. They mentioned that if I wanted, I could get an MRI but that it was not really necessary since they had already understood what I had. I was in real pain. I asked to get a prescription for the scan to make sure that what they were saying I had was actually what I had, prior to getting anything injected. I left the office without the scan prescription and got it a few days later only. They also mentioned that they had a physical therapist they would give my number to so that I could go see them, but I never heard from them either.

Dr. Jaafar was amazing. All I can say is that I came into the office with terrible back pain and left feeling significantly better after treatment. She was warm and kind and listened to me patiently. Also, I was seen right away. Highly recommend!

Dr Jaafar was very helpful with my situation. I had back surgery in August and needed a video visit with a pain management doctor to help with my situation since I couldn’t obtain an appointment for another 2 week. I would recommend Dr. Jaafar to anyone! She is very personable and clearly has a lot of experience in her field. I felt comfortable as soon as I walked into her office. She came up with a treatment plan to address my chronic pain and really listened to my concerns and goals. Her staff is very responsive and made scheduling easy!

Dr. Jaafar was very helpful, I was having bad sciatica that my other doctors couldn't treat- I went to PT and chiropractor and they just told me to keep coming back to them but I wasnt getting any better. I was having trouble walking and cancelled my vacation. She came in on a sunday and gave me something called an epidural in my back with an x-ray machine and an anesthesiologist was there. My pain went away by the next day and I was able to go on my vacation. I am really glad I found her otherwise I wouldve been in pain much longer.

I was forthright in explaining the I unexpectedly had to be in my to care for my mom in critical care. I am on oxycodone and was in between refills and I was also on a taper schedule, just like Jafaar prides herself in bio all over Google. If she read why I was coming to her she shouldn’t have taken my appointment charged me money never sent a different medication she promised after telling me within 5mins that they she no longer prescribe the medication. Hmmm as of 3 months ago. As a pain management dr I know it is very hard out there and as a patient it sucks even more. But due to my circumstances don’t take my money if you do not intend to help me keep my taper schedule rather then go through withdrawals as my mom lies in hospital not knowing if she will live or not.
I will never understand humanity these days and it make things really hard to keep your head up when you are completely controlled by drs will

Dr. Jafaar is awesome! I just met her for the first time today for my appointment and she was right on time, extremely friendly & personable, and answered every single question I had. I felt so comfortable with her which is important to me when meeting with a doctor.
I have severe TMJ and migraines and she explains these conditions and treatment options very well. She was also very helpful in making sure my procedures would be covered by my insurance. So grateful for her and her staff! HIGHLY recommend!

I booked a VIDEO visit, obviously if I’m booking a video visit it is because I can’t make it to the office. I called out of work due to a back pain and then they tell me they can’t give me a note to excuse myself from work because I didn’t come for an “office visit”. First off I would’ve known that I would’ve booked somewhere else and secondly I’m not understanding what the difference is. Unprofessional. Never again. The worst doctor on Zocdoc

The virtual appointment was not what I hoped for. The connection was bad so I could not hear the doctor. It was not private... there was her assistant or receptionist in the room with her. The appointment was 5 minutes total and she did not offer any suggestions on how to manage pain. It felt like I was being rushed off the call. I hate to say it but it felt like a scam to be honest.

Money hungry! Saw Dr. Jaffar via video for maybe 5 minutes and then saw her once in person. They never told me they don’t take my insurance and took my co pay happily both times yet billed my insurance 3x, two completely different amounts for the vists- which were no longer that 5-8 minutes each time, and for “medical supplies”.
