Dr. Rayal Gorrepati is double board certified in both adult and geriatric psychiatry. He has been practicing for over 12 years.
Dr. Gorrepati's practice focuses on medication management. Typically, he offers this in conjunction with supportive psychotherapy in 30-minute follow-up visits. However, occasionally Dr. Gorrepati may believe that additional therapy is also needed and ask that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best possible outcome.
He received his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. His general psychiatry residency was completed at Cooper University Hospital in New Jersey. He then completed a Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Hawaii.
After completing training, he returned to his hometown of Chicago and began working at a Federally Qualified Health Center providing care to an underserved low-income population for nearly 12 years. While at the clinic he treated a wide range of diagnoses, the most common ones being depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc. His primary clinical focus is treating adults with depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.

Because we accept insurance, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. Most patients pay a small copay per visit, subject to any deductible or coinsurance that your health plan has. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services determines appropriate billing guidelines. These guidelines depend on the length of the visit and the complexity and severity of your diagnosis. For this reason, we need to wait until after the visit for the final determination. We then submit the claim to your insurance company. The charges are calculated based upon pre-negotiated prices with your insurance company. Your insurance company will then determine what amount, if any, is your responsibility per your insurance plan.

I informed him in the first 2 minutes of our conversation that I had been recently hospitalized. We continued the conversation touching on the medications and treatment at the hospital thru the visit. 45 minutes into he tells me he cannot treat me bc my hospital stay was under six months. What a waste of time. He should have been upfront the first time I told him. I am sure he will bill my insurance though since he kept me on the phone for 45 minutes completing a useless assessment

Very nice guy, calming midwestern energy, gave me a lot of time at intake. Was not aware this was an all virtual practice when I scheduled originally, but no biggie. There are some stickler rules about you needing to be in your home state during the calls to be aware of.

This is by far the best psychiatrist I have ever met. I’ve struggled with anxiety/depression for going on 7 or 8 years. My old psychiatry office was very poorly managed between a backed up billing system, high employee turnover, scheduling errors, and overall unprofessionalism. After they cancelled an appointment in a last minute voice mail (the day of my appointment), I decided to turn to Zoc Doc in search of a new psychiatrist. When I saw the 5-star rating of Dr. Gorrepati and all the positive reviews, I knew he would be better than anything I experienced with my old psych. In my first appointment, we spent an hour discussing my diagnoses, past medical and psychological history, medications, goals, and symptom management. He was very well organized and showed me a compassion that no psychiatrist has before. He really listened to my concerns. I don’t like change, but choosing Dr. Gorrepati as my new psychiatrist is one of the best decisions I could make for my mental health.
