“Though our entire experience has been extraordinary with Dr. Zakhari -- thoroughly professional -- it is the humanity behind the professionalism which is so striking. So engaging. Not once have we felt that we were being rushed, no sense of in a door and out another. Quite the unique experience in this day and age. Couldn't be in more expert hands.”

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting your journey toward sobriety is a big step, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Our specialized home detox program is designed to make the process as comfortable and safe as possible, all within the privacy of your own home. We begin with an initial evaluation, which can be done virtually or in person, depending on what works best for you. This evaluation helps us understand your unique needs so we can create a detox plan that’s right for you. From there, we’ll connect you with a dedicated nurse or a supportive sober companion who will stay by your side for 5-7 days, providing care and encouragement throughout the entire detox process. During this time, the nurse or companion will be in constant communication with Dr. Raymond Zakhari, NP, who will oversee your medication management to ensure you’re as comfortable as possible. We’ll regularly assess your progress using the appropriate clinical scales, like CIWA or COWS, monitor your vital signs, and make adjustments to keep you on track. Our goal is to help you detox safely and effectively, without unnecessary discomfort. Aftercare: A Holistic Approach to Recovery Detox is just the first step. To help you stay on the path to long-term sobriety, we offer comprehensive aftercare services tailored to your needs. You’ll have the option to continue working with Dr. Zakhari for ongoing psychopharmacology, using medications like Vivitrol, Suboxone, or non-addictive treatments to reduce cravings and support your recovery. We also focus on building skills to help prevent relapse. This could include: Medication Assisted Therapy with Naltrexone, Vivitrol, Suboxone is sometimes used as well. Establishing healthy routines for sleep, exercise, and nutrition Our approach is designed to support not just your sobriety, but your overall well-being. We’re here to guide you every step of the way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical detox process with me begins with an initial phone consultation to understand your unique needs and determine the best approach for your detox. Once we decide to move forward, I’ll help coordinate support in the form of a registered nurse (RN) or sober companion, who will stay with you in your home 24/7 for an average of 5-7 days. This professional is sourced from a trusted third-party vendor I’ve worked with before and will be with you every step of the way to provide constant care and monitoring. After completing the evaluation and finalizing payment, I will prescribe the necessary medications for managing withdrawal symptoms, which the nurse or sober companion will administer. Throughout the detox, they’ll monitor your vital signs, ensure your comfort, and communicate with me daily to adjust your medications as needed. Each day, the nurse or companion will assess your progress using clinical scales such as CIWA or COWS (depending on whether you’re detoxing from alcohol, opioids, or marijuana) and keep a close eye on how you’re responding to the detox. The goal is to keep you as comfortable and safe as possible while your body adjusts. After the detox phase is complete, typically around day 5-7, I’ll meet with you either in person or virtually to evaluate your progress and discuss next steps, which may include ongoing treatment, medication management, or referrals to additional support services. This approach ensures that you receive both medical supervision and compassionate care, all from the privacy of your own home.
