Getting to know Reas Cela

Hello, I’m Reas Cela, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to adolescents and adults. With over eight years of clinical experience, I treat a wide range of conditions including anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, OCD, and complex psychiatric presentations. I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments, including general psychiatric evaluations, ADHD assessments, mood and anxiety disorder evaluations, trauma-related assessments, and OCD evaluations. I also offer individualized medication management and follow-up care, along with supportive, skills-based psychotherapy. My approach is collaborative, structured, and patient-centered. I focus on helping you understand your symptoms, develop practical coping strategies, and achieve long-term stability and improved daily functioning. I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, respected, and actively involved in your care. Treatment is always tailored to your unique needs, with an emphasis on clear communication, education, and shared decision-making. ?? Important Appointment Policies ?? Telehealth Requirement: Patients must be physically located in Connecticut at the time of their Telehealth appointment. ?? ADHD Evaluation Policy: All new patients seeking ADHD evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment are required to complete their initial assessment in person. Telehealth is not available for first-time ADHD evaluations.

What should a new client know about working with you?

During our first visit, my goal is to truly get to know you—your story, your challenges, and what you hope to achieve from treatment. I take a holistic and collaborative approach, combining medical expertise with genuine compassion. You can expect a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, where we’ll explore your mental health history, current concerns, and overall well-being. My treatment style blends evidence-based medication management with elements of brief therapy, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral strategies (CBT). I focus on helping you gain practical tools to manage symptoms while identifying and addressing the underlying causes of distress. Every care plan is personalized—we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you and make decisions together every step of the way. I believe in open communication and transparency. You’ll always have space to ask questions, express concerns, and share feedback about your treatment. My goal is to build a supportive partnership where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to take an active role in your healing journey. Important Policy for ADHD Evaluations All new patients seeking evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment for ADHD are required to complete their initial assessment in person at the office. Telehealth is not available for first-time ADHD evaluations. Whether you’re starting treatment for the first time or continuing care, our work together will focus on finding balance, improving resilience, and creating sustainable progress toward your goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During your first visit, I take the time to really listen and understand your story. We’ll begin with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, where I’ll ask about your current symptoms, medical and mental health history, lifestyle, and any previous treatments. This assessment helps me develop a clear picture of what you’re experiencing so we can identify an accurate diagnosis and create a personalized care plan together. If medication is appropriate, I’ll explain the options in detail—how they work, potential benefits, and possible side effects—so you can make informed decisions about your treatment. I also incorporate brief therapy and supportive counseling during sessions to help you process emotions, explore patterns, and learn effective coping strategies. My goal is to ensure that treatment goes beyond prescriptions and addresses the full scope of your well-being. Follow-up visits typically focus on monitoring your progress, adjusting medications as needed, and continuing therapeutic discussions. We’ll regularly evaluate what’s working, what’s not, and how you’re feeling overall. I encourage open, ongoing communication so that our work together feels collaborative and empowering. Each session is designed to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can speak freely and receive both the structure and support needed for long-term emotional balance and growth.
