Getting to know Rebecca Blakesley

Rebecca is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) providing telemedicine services for adults with ADHD, autism, OCD, PTSD, depression, anxiety, insomnia, and related mental health conditions. She takes a patient-centered approach that considers each person's full story—life circumstances, previous treatments, physical health, and personal goals. Treatment plans are developed collaboratively with clear explanations of all options and respect for patient preferences. Her nursing background enables a holistic perspective that connects mental health with sleep, physical wellbeing, relationships, and life stressors, treating the whole person rather than isolated symptoms. Services include medication management with thorough education about prescriptions and their expected outcomes, ensuring patients understand and remain active participants in their care. All appointments are conducted via secure telemedicine, allowing patients to receive quality psychiatric care from their preferred location without the stress of commuting or waiting rooms.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I take a holistic, whole-person approach to medication management. Medications are my clinical specialty — but I'm equally committed to seeing you fully, recognizing how sleep, nutrition, stress, relationships, and everyday lifestyle choices all play a role in your mental health. My clinical scope includes depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, ADHD, sleep disorders, and PTSD. Your first visit will be thorough in the truest sense. We'll cover not only your mental health symptoms but also your physical wellbeing, daily habits, current life stressors, support network, and the health goals that matter most to you. I set aside that time deliberately, because the more complete my understanding of your life, the more precise and effective your care can be. My approach to medication management blends clinical skill with practical insight. I prescribe with intention — explaining why I'm recommending specific medications, how they work, what benefits and risks to consider, and what realistic timelines for improvement look like. I'm also candid about what medications can and cannot accomplish, and I'll help you build expectations that are both hopeful and grounded in reality. Regular follow-up visits allow us to track your progress, fine-tune doses as needed, and catch any concerns early. Between appointments, I stay accessible for questions — because your wellbeing doesn't operate on a fixed schedule. I also coordinate with your other providers, including primary care and relevant specialists, to make sure you have a well-integrated care team supporting you from every angle. My style is warm, patient, and empowering. I want you to feel heard, respected, and genuinely confident in the decisions we make together. I see our relationship as a true partnership — one where your experiences and perspectives are not just welcomed but essential to our shared success.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I know seeking mental health treatment takes courage, and I'm honored to support you through this journey. Our first appointment is typically 60 minutes, giving us time to really talk. I'll want to hear your story—what's been going on, how long you've been struggling, and what you've already tried. We'll discuss your symptoms in detail, review your medical and psychiatric history, explore family history, and talk about your daily life, stressors, and support system. I create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can speak freely about your experiences, including things that might feel difficult to share. I'll ask questions to understand your experience fully and may use standardized assessments to help clarify your diagnosis. This isn't about labeling you; it's about understanding how best to help. Together, we'll discuss whether medication might be beneficial and explore your options. I take time to explain how medications work, what you might expect, and address any concerns you have. Every person responds differently to treatment, so I approach medication management as a process of finding what works uniquely for you. Follow-up visits are usually 30 minutes, scheduled monthly or as needed. We'll check in on your symptoms, review medication effectiveness, monitor for side effects, and make adjustments if necessary. I track your progress carefully and believe in the lowest effective dose for the shortest necessary time. I also recognize that healing involves more than medication—therapy, lifestyle changes, and social support all play important roles. Throughout our work together, I maintain open communication. You can always reach out between visits if something feels off or if you have questions. My practice philosophy is simple: treat each person with dignity, listen without judgment, and provide evidence-based care tailored to your individual needs. You deserve to feel better, and I'm here to help make that happen. Your well-being is my priority.

Rebecca is always so understanding and helpful. She asks insightful questions that lead her right to solutions I would never consider might be helpful for me. She is a capable and caring provider.
Rebecca is very compassionate. She listens to my concerns and offers thoughtful suggestions for medication management. She makes adjustments in a way that feels safe and manageable, and I feel truly supported by her.
Rebecca is very understanding and works with the patient to make a plan. She doesn’t push patients to make any decisions but rather educates them on different options and helps them stay on track. She is easy to get a hold of and very nice and calm.
I rarely do reviews but I could never say enough good things about Rebecca Blakesley. Her warm personality, friendly face and nonjudgmental demeanor have made me comfortable sharing struggles that I’ve spent my lifetime trying to fix (and conceal) myself. For the first time, I do not dread appointments and even feel safe being vulnerable with my shortcomings. Her level of empathy and compassion is unmatched and I thank my lucky stars every day that I got to cross paths with her beautiful soul. My only regret is that I did not find her sooner. I often wonder who or what I could have been if I had the help and clarity that she has provided me, earlier in life. If you are on the fence about seeking help, look no further. Your quality of life and future will thank you. :)
If only practitioners like Rebecca were around when I was growing up, I would have been correctly diagnosed and guided and spared much unnecessary suffering. She’s the real thing. Her expertise and devotion to linking you to the right care is unparalleled. Wow.
I've seen many psychiatrists over the years and I have to say Rebecca is the best of the bunch. I'd recommend her service and care in a second. Do yourself a favor and schedule with her. She's knowledgeable about recent medications and practices within the psychiatric domain which helps facilitate a care plan that's tailored to your specific issues. I've had psychiatrists that never really kept up with the literature and were more about seeing as many patients as possible. Rebecca is the complete opposite, she cares and wants you to be in the best possible position.
Rebecca is very empathetic and works hard to find a plan that works for your specific situation. She also above and beyond by recommending different resources that could also assist with treatment.

Rebbeca is lovely. She takes her time and doesn't rush to give a diagnosis. She asks curious questions to help discover what your underlying issues could be that are causing your current symptoms. I love that she doesn't just jump to prescribing medication and is open to exploring alternative solutions. That was a relief! I highly recommend working with her.
