Rebecca Njonjo, APRN, CNP, MSN

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
MA
I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience in behavioral and mental health care. My background includes many years of working with individuals experiencing a wide range of psychiatric and emotional challenges, which has shaped my compassionate, thoughtful, and patient-centered approach to care. I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management for individuals experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma-related symptoms, sleep difficulties, and substance-use concerns. I believe effective mental health care begins with listening carefully and understanding the whole person—not simply treating a diagnosis. My approach is collaborative, culturally responsive, and individualized. I work with each patient to develop a treatment plan that reflects their symptoms, personal goals, preferences, and life circumstances. I value open communication and want patients to feel comfortable asking questions and participating actively in decisions about their care. My goal is to provide a welcoming and respectful environment where patients feel heard, supported, and empowered as we work together toward improved mental health and overall well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, supportive, and collaborative. I believe you should feel comfortable speaking openly about what you are experiencing without feeling judged or rushed. During our visits, I take time to listen, understand your concerns, and learn about the experiences and circumstances that may be affecting your mental health. I use a holistic, person-centered approach that considers your emotional well-being, physical health, relationships, culture, environment, and personal goals. When medication is appropriate, I believe in discussing the options with you—including expected benefits, potential side effects, and alternatives—so that we can make treatment decisions together. I also incorporate supportive and therapeutic interventions into visits when appropriate. My goal is for you to leave each appointment feeling heard, informed, and actively involved in your treatment.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your first visit is an opportunity for me to get to know you and understand what brings you to care. We will review your current concerns and symptoms, psychiatric and medical history, medications, previous treatments, family and social history, and the goals you would like to achieve. Together, we will discuss my assessment and develop an individualized treatment plan, which may include medication management, supportive therapeutic interventions, lifestyle recommendations, and coordination with other healthcare professionals when appropriate. During follow-up visits, we will review your progress, discuss any changes in symptoms, evaluate how your treatment is working, and address medication effectiveness or side effects when applicable. Treatment may be adjusted based on your needs and preferences. Throughout the process, I encourage questions and shared decision-making so that you remain an active participant in your care.
