Dr. Rebecca B. Skolnick is Co-founder of MindWell NYC and a licensed clinical psychologist in New York and New Jersey. She earned her PhD and Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Hofstra University, a Master’s in Psychology in Education from Columbia University’s Teachers College, and her Bachelor’s from Tufts University. Dr. Skolnick specializes in exposure therapy for phobias, anxiety, and OCD, as well as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) for eating disorders in both women and men. She provides individual and group therapy to adolescents, young adults, and adults. She is an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Skolnick is Membership Chair of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and a member of the New York City Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Association, the Academy for Eating Disorders, and the New York Chapter of the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals Foundation. She has research publications and presentations on anxiety and eating disorders. Passionate about education, she offers workshops and trainings to mental health professionals and the community. She also completed training at the Weill Cornell Center for Human Rights to conduct evaluations for asylum seekers. Before founding MindWell NYC, Dr. Skolnick was a staff psychologist and Director of the Eating Disorders Program at CBT/DBT Associates in NYC. She completed an externship and pre-doctoral internship at Northwell Health, with rotations in the adolescent Eating Disorder Day Program, DBT adult outpatient clinic, adolescent inpatient unit, and geriatric partial hospital program. She also completed an externship and post-doctoral fellowship at CBT/DBT Associates, working as an individual CBT and DBT therapist for adults and as a DBT skills group co-leader.
