Getting to know Reema Cherian

Reema Cherian is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides compassionate, evidence-based care for clients across the lifespan. She is dedicated to promoting emotional wellness and improving quality of life through individualized treatment plans that integrate both medication management and holistic care. Before becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner, Reema spent several years as a Registered Nurse in intensive care, where she developed strong clinical judgment, crisis management skills, and a deep understanding of the connection between physical and mental health. Her extensive ICU background allows her to approach psychiatric care with a comprehensive perspective, recognizing the interplay between medical conditions, emotional well-being, and lifestyle factors. In addition to her clinical experience, Reema has held supervisory and leadership roles, mentored nurses, and guided interdisciplinary teams in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. This experience reinforced her conviction in the importance of collaboration, clear communication, and empowering both patients and healthcare professionals. Reema provides diagnostic evaluations and medical management for a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, trauma-related disorders, and schizophrenia. She works with children, adolescents, and adults, offering a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment for all clients.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Reema emphasizes compassionate, personalized care tailored to each individual’s needs, not a one-size-fits-all approach. You’ll find comprehensive services such as psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy for a variety of mental health concerns (anxiety, depression, bipolar, PTSD, OCD, Panic Attacks, and ADHD, etc.)

What is your typical process for working with clients?

At Regency Psychiatric Services, our process is structured, collaborative, and centered on providing individualized, evidence-based mental health care in a supportive environment. 1. Initial Intake & Comprehensive Evaluation The process begins with a thorough psychiatric assessment. During the first visit, we take time to understand the client’s concerns, symptoms, mental health history, medical background, medications, lifestyle factors, and personal goals. This appointment is focused on listening, building rapport, and gaining a full picture of the client’s needs. 2. Collaborative Treatment Planning Following the evaluation, we work collaboratively with the client to develop a personalized treatment plan. This may include medication management, psychotherapy recommendations, lifestyle strategies, or referrals to additional services when appropriate. Clients are actively involved in decision-making, and all treatment options are clearly explained. 3. Medication Management (When Indicated) If medication is part of the treatment plan, we follow a cautious, evidence-based approach. Medications are selected based on clinical need, prior treatment response, and individual preferences. We review potential benefits, risks, and side effects, and make adjustments gradually while monitoring effectiveness and tolerability. 4. Ongoing Follow-Up and Monitoring Regular follow-up appointments are scheduled to assess progress, review symptoms, adjust treatment as needed, and address any concerns. We emphasize continuity of care and encourage open communication so treatment remains effective and aligned with the client’s goals. 5. Supportive, Respectful Care Environment Throughout the process, we prioritize a respectful, non-judgmental, and culturally sensitive approach. Clients can expect to be heard, supported, and treated with professionalism and compassion. Confidentiality and ethical standards are maintained at all times.
