Dr. Mickel earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the University of Western States. A typical appointment begins with an assessment of your body's weak links in the kinetic chain that could be causing the muscles to work harder to compensate. These compensations are what start to cause the wear and tear to our joints and supporting soft tissues that lead to pain. Only by finding the weak links and correcting them with specific adjustments can we stop the wear and tear that these compensation patterns are causing. After the adjustment restores proper function to your kinetic chain, Dr. Mickel utilizes Pain Neutralization Technique (PNT) on the painful muscles that have been working so hard. PNT is a non-pharmacological, non-invasive technique for pain neutralization developed by Dr. Steven Kaufman. The technique involves gentle tissue manipulation to "turn off" the nerve-based reflexes that perpetuate trigger points and muscle pain. Dr. Mickel works to improve biomechanical strain on your musculoskeletal system to improve function and decrease pain, helping patients find relief from a range of chronic and acute painful conditions. He gives each patient his focused attention and discusses treatment options that match each individual's unique needs, lifestyle, and preferences.
