For nine consecutive years, I served as a volunteer physician and Medical Director for the Amazon Health Project, providing care to communities residing in the Peruvian Amazon basin. The work I performed in the Amazon Jungle with volunteer members of my team included treating numerous surgical and medical illnesses in a resource-poor setting. We also provided education on clean water and preventative medicine practices, facilitated and implemented clean water projects, and helped develop the medical clinic's organizational platform. This experience has enriched my life personally and professionally, as I connected in a direct and meaningful way with many of the inhabitants of the communities I served; it has greatly enhanced my ability to fulfill my role and mission as a medical healer for the people in the communities I serve in the United States. As a second-generation gastroenterologist, I also strive to carry on the legacy created by my father to provide the highest quality of care for gastrointestinal wellness. Passionate about my family, I enjoy spending time with relatives and friends as well. I enjoy the ocean, swimming, baseball, soccer art, visiting museums, traveling, music, dancing theater and going on long walks.
