Dr. Richard Burroughs graduated from the University of Notre Dame and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Vermont. He completed his dermatology residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. His most recent military assignment was Chief of Dermatology at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii.
After 24 years of service, he retired from the Army and returned to the Bay Area, where he is originally from.
His interests include both medical and cosmetic dermatology.

Dr. Burroughs has been my physician for close to 20 years during which time have had numbers of visits and interactions with him which have been very agreeable.
His care of me and attendant results could not have been more satisfactory.
His interaction with his patients is very professional and characterized by his listening quite well and getting on to the diagnostic and treatment portions of the visit without wasting time.
I have no reservations in recommending him at all.

What I did not like: They had an office staff meeting from 12:30PM to 1:00PM. Those of us in the hall (patients) had to overhear all that went on at the staff meeting inside the office, and there was no provision made for an elderly patient, who used a walker and had to stand outside in the hall for one half hour, along with her elderly husband. At 1:03PM, we knocked on the door to gain entry.
Once in the office, the staff was efficient and some were very nice.
Dr. Burroughs was very thorough and took the time to explain different options for my dermatitis . He was very easy to talk to, and answered all of my questions. Dr. Burroughs helps a patient feel at ease, and does not make a patient feel rushed.

I absolutely am so grateful for Dr. Burroughs. He cured my skin infection MRSA with antibiotics using a culture swab to diagnose the issue. After going to telederm appointments during Covid, nobody could diagnose the problem and I suffered the last year with a horrible skin infection. Dr. Burroughs called me right away after the results came back and prescribed antibiotics and prednisone. I’m on day 2 of the antibiotics and already my skin is SO MUCH better, the itching bad redness went away.
I feel like Dr. Burroughs gave me my life back and I would absolutely go see him again and will only use this dermatologist in the future! I literally started crying just being so grateful he fixed my skin! It was so painful and really negatively impacted by terrible rash. Dr. Burroughs was the ONLY doctor who could figure out what it was.

My wait to see my doctor was brief, under 15 minutes. With one exception my doctor answered all my questions and concerns on that first visit. The exception was mine as I'd forgotten to ask the him one question. I called back and the doctor responded with a phone call the same day! Should my situation warrant it, I'd be glad to return at any time.

Dr. Burroughs is a clear, efficient communicator. He provided me all the potential options for my treatment, provided his advice, but allowed me the room to decide on my treatment course. He was open for questions and clarifications as needed. I would certainly see Dr. Burroughs again for any future treatment.

I was seeing the doctor after a few months and he still remembered my case history well. I am a bit of a worrier and had a ton of questions which were all patiently answered by the doctor in detail and he put my mind at ease. Just after the appointment, i had to call the office back to ask another question i had forgotten before and got a call back from the doctor.
