Dr. Righthand graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester in 1979 before earning his medical degree from the Albany Medical College in 1985. Dr. Righthand’s interests and expertise includes diagnostic medicine, neuroscience, cardiac and pulmonary diseases, rheumatoid and endocrine disorders, women’s health, medical informatics, psychology, and geriatrics. He is described by his colleagues and patients as extremely patient and compassionate, with an attention to detail. He is a staunch defender of the individual patient’s rights to care, despite the current economic pressures brought on by the insurance industry and government.
As a solo practitioner in private practice, Dr. Righthand has always maintained strong ties with medical education. He can always be seen accompanied by young physicians in training from the Rutgers School of Medicine and the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine where he has mentored a generation of new physicians as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine for over 20 years.
Growing up, as a child, Dr. Righthand would often accompany his father, Dr. Norman Righthand, to the hospital and making house calls to his patients. This tradition of personal attention, community service, professionalism, and dedication continues today with his association as a member of the Holy Name Physician’s Network.

Great service and very professional.
Dr. Righthand listens carefully and pays full attention to all the complaints of the patients and asks probing questions to ensure accurate diagnosis and most suitable plan of treatment. I came back highly satisfied. I intend to recommend Dr Righthand to all my contacts.
Would recommend to anyone! Dr. Righthand is an exemplary physician. He takes the time to listen to every complaint/concern and is thorough in his history and exam (which is becoming hard to come by today).
Dr Righthand is very thorough, and knows his stuff!
My very first doctor's visit. I'm highly satisfied with the outcome. Doctor and staff are very polite and professional.
I was referred to Dr Righthand several years ago and have always been satisfied with his expertise and care. I have been very fortunate to find a medical professional with a great amount of experience who listens to my needs and takes care of my problems with a well thought out plan. His staff is also top notch
The doctor is very polite and is thorough. Did not rush my appointment at all. Gave me a referral on the spot without having to wait a week (like some offices). The ONLY negative is the office itself. It is very old and outdated. It could definitely use a refresh. Reminds me of high school quality for some reason.
I think this is the best doctor I've ever seen. As long as he continues to practice, I will be his patient. Very hands-on and attentive. Took time to answer all of my questions. Just such a warm, wonderful person.
Very thorough and patient. He is the 1st doctor that I have seen in years that did not have a waiting room full of people with the same Appt time and did not rush to get me out. He is also not the type of doctor to just throw more medication at a patient and looks at the whole picture.
Through and informed!
Dr. Righthand is just as awesome as the other reviewers have described. Very straightforward and honest, most importantly he listened to what I had to say and didn't just cut me off like some doctors tend to do. Understandably doctors are busy but they should listen to their patients concerns and Dr Righthand does just that. I'm so glad his office takes my insurance and am confident in his abilities.
