I am Dr. Rita Itondo, a doctoral-prepared, dual board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and Primary Care NP (ANP-C) with over 13 years of experience as a provider in outpatient and inpatient mental health, primary, acute care, and rehabilitation. I completed my Master’s degree in Primary Health from Rutgers University formerly UMDNJ and a Postgraduate certification in Psychiatric Nursing from Wilkes University, PA. I earned my Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) with honors from Rutgers University, NJ. I am deeply passionate about my work and provide comprehensive psychiatric care to adolescents, adults, and the elderly.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I prioritize individualized patient care focusing on the holistic well-being of my patients. My goal is to help patients improve their overall quality of life.
With my combined experiences as a board certified Adult NP and PMHNP, I provide comprehensive outpatient telehealth psychiatric care to patients struggling with depression, various anxiety disorders, OCD, ADHD, eating disorders, insomnia, bipolar disorders, mood disorders, schizophrenia, and related psychotic disorders, PTSD, and substance use disorders.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
My patient-centered approach to mental health and wellness incorporates evidence-based practice, medication management, psychotherapy including talk and supportive therapy, and psychoeducation.
I am deeply passionate about my work. You will feel safe expressing your mental health issues with a provider who is empathetic, compassionate, and non-judgmental. I will listen and validate your concerns, support you, and give you the tools necessary to improve your mental well-being.
