Getting to know Dr. Robert Freeman

**This provider does not treat patients looking for therapy.** Robert Freeman treats patients ages 15-65. I look forward to working together to resolve the dis-ease you have been experiencing. I embarked on the road to becoming a Doctor in 4th grade when I discovered a skeleton model in the Science teacher’s room. I later learned the teacher had been a Medic in the Army. We lived in a town that produced many teachers, and I approach working with patients as a teacher, encouraging them to learn how their body works. I remain excited about this work every day to help resolve my patients' symptoms. In Psychiatry, as in other medical fields, orderly collection of information is vital to understanding the presenting problem. Often, a somatic cause may underlie behavioral symptoms. For example, Iron Deficiency can cause Restless Legs Syndrome, especially with a positive family history. Completing lab tests, when suggested, is critical to identifying and managing both physical and behavioral illness. Treating Iron Deficiency would then be important, alongside other agents. So, even if you present with Anxiety, Depression, or Mood Swings, my job is to screen for functional causes of those symptoms and address them. Now you have some insight into why forging a strong partnership is vital to achieving the best outcome. I have worked in many areas of Psychiatry and use that knowledge to help you on your journey to wellness. I completed Medical School at Tufts University, earning my Doctor of Medicine. I then completed Internship in Psychiatry, Residency in General Psychiatry, and Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, Jacobi Medical Center.

Dr. Freeman is hands-down the best psychiatrist I’ve ever met. He is very personable, empathetic, and genuinely wants to help people. My only minor complaint is that his phone kept going off during our appointment, which was distracting, but Dr. Freeman was still attentive, and I left the appointment feeling validated and hopeful.

I'm a new patient and had my first appointment via video. Dr. Freemen was pleasant and engaging, yet professional and not too pushy during an initial evaluation. We agreed to monthly sessions for medication management. I am happy to have found a competent psychiatrist who's accepting new patients and takes my insurance.

I indicated my issues in the pre-appointment intake documents. They were not read apparently. Within five minutes, he indicated he could not help me and I should find another doctor. This was based on information I provided in my intake form, so the appointment just should have been canceled.
