He graduated from Washington University School of Medicine, Interned at Barnes Hospital, did his Residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Fellowship at U of P’s Unit for Experimental Psychiatry and has been in Private Practice since 1979. He was a Principal Investigator of 174 studies for 30 pharmaceutical companies and studied all psychiatric medications approved by the FDA between 1980 and 2015 and many which were never released. He has authored over 30 articles in Psychiatric Journals and delivered over 450 lectures to physicians in the US, Europe and South America. Topics included treatment of Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Panic, Schizophrenia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, PTSD, Dementia, Pain, ADHD, Alcoholism, Drug Addiction and Insomnia. As President of the Nevada Psychiatric Association he began and was Course Director for 19 years of the Association’s Psychopharmacology Update Course, a 4 day Continuing Medical Education Course now attended each year by over 1600 psychiatrists and NPs. He served as President of the Nevada Psychiatric Association and Nevada Delegate to annual meetings of the American Medical Association and the American Psychiatric Association. He has received awards from many organizations, including America’s Top Psychiatrists Award of the Consumer Research Council of America and Leading Physicians of the World Award of the International Association of Health Care Professionals, but is proudest of the Exemplary Psychiatrist Award of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.
