I'm Max Lystrup, a Family and Sports Medicine physician in Tucson. My practice is built around a simple idea: the best primary care keeps you healthy and active, not just manages you when something goes wrong. I trained at the Uniformed Services University and spent nearly a decade as a military physician, working with elite athletes, rescue personnel, and high-performance units. That background gave me a skill set most primary care doctors don't have — deep expertise in joints, injuries, and musculoskeletal health — and I bring all of it to everyday patient care. I work with a lot of active adults who want to stay that way: people managing an old knee or shoulder, trying to keep hiking and golfing and playing pickleball into their 70s, or just looking for a doctor who thinks about their long-term function, not just their lab values. I also specialize in metabolic health and weight management, including GLP-1 therapy (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro), and I'm experienced in managing diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, and the full range of chronic conditions that come with getting older.
