Dr. Robert Wanzek earned his medical degree and completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Iowa. He has been trained in the most recent evidence-based medicine and is eager to learn from and collaborate with patients on a wide variety of mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, personality disorders, substance use disorders, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. His primary treatment modality is psychopharmacology but will work with patients to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that could include interventions like psychotherapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation, addressing medical comorbidities, or others based on symptoms and goals. Dr. Wanzek was very thorough and a great listener! Would definitely recommend.
He listened with care to everything I said and no judgement. He helped connect the dots on what I was feeling and answered all my questions. I was a little nervous going to a psychiatrist for the first time, but it was truly a great experience. Will continue seeing him for sure.

He was thorough about my medical history (which took most of the call) but didn’t feel like a lot of analysis or interpretation what I was relaying. Very much gave back my experience in different words but didn’t help me get what I needed.

Dr. Wanzek offered me a full one-hour session even though he came in a few minutes late, and I really appreciated that he took the time to get a thorough history and discussion of my current condition. I felt that he heard my concerns and actively partnered with me to put together a plan that I was comfortable with.

I was very pleasantly surprised by Dr. Wanzek. I thought he was great. He had a very calm demeanor and didn’t make me feel rushed at all which was exactly what I needed with the time in my life I’m going through. I felt like he asked all of the appropriate questions to understand what’s going on with me and wanted me to elaborate on certain areas to better understand how I’m feeling. I can’t recommend him enough and wish he also offered talk therapy! Looking forward to our future sessions.

The office was very efficient digitally, sent me the paperwork right away for my same day appointment and they have a text service you can use for future appointments and refills. My doc was very thorough, we delved deeper than I expected, so I felt like he got a really good sense of me and my mental health. Highly recommend!

I would say that my experience was average. I wasn't sure what to expect but afterwards I still wasn't sure what's next. A bit more clarity would have been better I'd say. He's a great listener. Personally, I was looking for a bit more action than listening... I already have therapist,was looking for a psychiatrist. Hopefully my experience is just mine, and yours will be better.
