About Dr. Robin Dacosta

Robin DaCosta, MD is board-certified in internal medicine with over twenty years of experience. A Long Island native, Dr. DaCosta attended Stony Brook University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. In 1989, she graduated with her Doctor of Medicine at New York University School of Medicine. She then completed her Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at Stony Brook University. Her medical career has taken her to rural Kentucky, providing medical care in a physician shortage area. She has also practiced in Tennessee before returning back to Long Island. After 9/11, she had the privilege to participate in the World Trade Center Medical Monitoring Program where she evaluated and treated those who heroically worked at the World Trade Center site. She is affiliated with University Hospital at Stony Brook and Saint Catherine of Siena Medical Center. Dr. DaCosta is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, and a recipient of the Five Star Internist “Patient’s Choice Award.” Since 2004, she has worked as an Internal Medicine physician on Long Island where she was able to treat the same patients and their families for almost two decades. Prior to joining NY Health, Dr. DaCosta practiced at Island Medical Care.

I really liked that this doctor had a "scribe" (a separate person) filling out the stuff on the computer so she could focus on interacting with me, not typing. I hate when you're talking to a doctor and they've got their head down in a computer screen. She seemed to really listen and address my concerns.

The experience was great! There has been an unexpected patient emergency experience. The receptionist told me to reschedule the appointment to the middle of July. I told her I wasn't able to do that. I had chest pain. She said the wait will be longer than expected because the issue at hand. I told her I will wait. She said, "it might be 1 to 2 hours"I said, I will wait. After all, the wait was for about 40 minutes.
