Getting to know Rosa Gomez
My name is Rosa Gomez, and I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist based in New Jersey, as well as the founder of Cora Psychotherapy. I earned my Master’s of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seton Hall University in 2017. Since then, I have worked in the mental health field treating trauma, helping couples heal, and reuniting families.
As a marriage and family therapist, I specialize in helping couples heal from affairs and challenge patterns of miscommunication. I also work with individuals and families, focusing on empowering people to reclaim their personal power after experiencing childhood abuse, sexual violence, and racial trauma. Additionally, I support families dealing with estrangement in reconnecting with one another.
I am passionate about offering therapy to marginalized communities and have extensive experience working with African, African-American, Caribbean, and Latino populations—though all races and cultures are welcome.
Please note that I am currently offering only virtual sessions and do not work with clients under 18 years old.
My Approach
When working with clients, I understand that you bring more than just yourself into the therapy room—you bring your family of origin, your culture, and your past experiences in relationships and society. I take all of this into consideration when addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and relational challenges with partners or family. I don’t see myself as an expert in your life; rather, I believe every individual, couple, and family has the capacity and internal wisdom to achieve their goals. I view myself as your guide—encouraging, empowering, and walking alongside you on your journey toward healing.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Please be advised, I am only offering virtual sessions at this time, and running a waitlist for evening appointments. I also do not work with minors, only clients 18+.
