What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to care is compassionate, patient-centered, and collaborative. I believe effective mental health treatment begins with listening and taking the time to understand each person’s unique experiences, concerns, strengths, and goals. I provide thorough psychiatric assessments and work collaboratively with clients to develop individualized treatment plans that may include medication management, education, lifestyle recommendations, and ongoing support. I focus on evidence-based treatment while also considering the whole person, not simply a diagnosis or a list of symptoms. My goal is to create a safe, respectful, and judgment-free environment where clients feel comfortable being open and involved in their care. I believe treatment should be a partnership, and I work with each client to find an approach that supports their well-being and helps them move toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During your first session, you can expect a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free environment. We will take time to discuss what brought you to treatment, your current concerns and symptoms, medical and mental health history, medications, and how your mental health may be affecting your daily life. I will also take time to learn about your goals and what you hope to achieve through treatment. Together, we will discuss my initial recommendations and develop an individualized treatment plan based on your needs and preferences. If medication is appropriate, we will discuss potential options, benefits, risks, and what to expect. Most importantly, your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a therapeutic relationship based on trust, respect, and collaboration. You do not need to have everything figured out before your appointment, I will meet you where you are and we will take it one step at a time.
