My sister-in-law recommended Dr. Sharma since she had a great experience with her and I’m happy to say I’m really happy with her. She took her time and listened to my concerns. I used to see a different doctor here, but left when he retired. I decided to give Dr. Sharma a try and I’m glad I did because I plan on staying as her patient!

Ruchita Sharma, O.D. received her Doctor of Optometry from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico and her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Houston Baptist University. Dr. Sharma is a Therapeutic Optometrist certified by the Texas Optometry Board and is working toward her Optometric Glaucoma Specialist certification. Her special field of interest is Myopia Management.
During her clinical rotations, Dr. Sharma enjoyed providing vision screenings and mobile clinic services in rural areas of Puerto Rico. She also completed externships in California and Houston, where she received supplemental training in the diagnosis and management of ocular pathology and binocular vision dysfunctions. Her training included providing eye exams in Spanish, which gives her the opportunity to help Spanish-speaking patients in the Houston metropolitan area.
Dr. Sharma’s memories of an optometrist saving her father’s life by diagnosing his high blood pressure influenced her decision to pursue a career in optometry. She believes it is a field in which she can make a direct impact in her patients’ everyday lives. She particularly enjoys meeting a variety of people from different backgrounds every day and creating long-term relationships to provide her patients with the best eyecare possible.
In her time away from the office, Dr. Sharma enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, baking, and traveling.

Great experience. Had a brain tumor resection in August 2024, and she was familiar with some of the post surgery side effects and was competent in assessing accordingly.

Everyone was great. I didn't like the lady I was choosing glasses with my daughter I don't remember her name but I was telling her about putting tint on my daughter glasses. She like you can choose whatever you want. Her whole facial rub me so wrong. I was like ma'am never mind.

Loved the doctor, she was kind, I treated and explained everything. Will definitely be going back!

Dr. Sharma was so friendly and knowledgeable and really took the time to listen to me and then did a very thorough exam. All of the staff that I interacted with were super friendly, personable, and helpful, and I was taken back for my appointment several minutes before my scheduled time.

Dr. Sharma was fabulous! She’s very helpful and a great listener! She relieved me on all of my concerns and explained thoroughly about my blood work. She’s very accepting on my choices. I normally have anxiety seeing doctors but I no longer feel that way. She is now my main and preferred health care provider and I’m truly grateful. The staff were friendly and also made my experience positive and non-rushed. They really focus on customer care and health. The patient portal is simple and handy!
