About Dr. Rudrajit Rai
Dr. Rai is the Medical Director of Gastro Center of Maryland and Cascades Endoscopy Center.
He is a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with over 20 years of experience. Dr. Rai completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He then completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at Kaleida Health, Buffalo General Medical Center, followed by a Fellowship in Gastroenterology at Johns Hopkins University. He also completed an additional year of Advanced Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University in Transplant Hepatology and Biliary Disorders.
Since 1997, Dr. Rai has served on the Medical Faculty at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions and has held numerous leadership positions in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, including Medical Director of Adult Liver Transplantation and Director of Clinical Effectiveness at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is considered a national thought leader and expert in Gastroenterology and Liver Disease and regularly presents at national and regional meetings.
Dr. Rai has received many awards, including the Excellence in Clinical Research Award from the American College of Gastroenterology, the Passano Clinician Scientist Award from Johns Hopkins University, and the Industry Research Scholar Award and Astra-Merck Award from the American Digestive Health Foundation, among others. He has published dozens of scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals and authored many chapters for medical textbooks. With over 50,000 procedures performed, Dr. Rai has pioneered new and innovative medical techniques in his field.
