About Dr. Ruel Garcia

Dr. Ruel Garcia graduated Magna Cum Laude in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine. Following medical school, Dr. Garcia completed an internship in General Surgery and a residency in Internal Medicine at UC San Diego. Soon after, he joined the staff of Southern California Permanente Medical Group, San Diego, for three years as a primary care physician and then as a hospitalist.
In 1998, Dr. Garcia moved to the Bay Area and completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of California, San Francisco. Since then, he has been practicing general gastroenterology and hepatology in San Jose, with a special interest in advanced endoscopic procedures. His primary focus is on biliary tract and pancreatic diseases, and he has expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP and EUS. Dr. Garcia is Board-Certified in Gastroenterology.
He balances his life by spending the majority of his free time with his wife and four children. Dr. Garcia has a passion for travel, history, and physics.

Short wait period, friendly staff, clean cut intelligent doctor with great advice. Only surprise was my cellphone went blank (on way out the staff admitted they have a cellphone blocker, not sure why, but as a business owner & father of teenager myself i need to have my calls come through to stay on top of my game), all good, scheduled a follow on appnt.
