Getting to know Rupa Karki
I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). I attended the Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at Chamberlain University in Chicago, where I earned my Master of Science in Nursing degree in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing. I am also a member of the American Nurses Association.
I believe in high-quality care that prioritizes patient-centeredness, empathy, and evidence-based practice. I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental space for patients to share their stories and work toward their mental health goals. I value the therapeutic relationship with my patients by taking time to actively listen, empathize, and build trust. To remain at the forefront of my profession, I participate in continuing education, attend conferences, and research new treatments.
Prior to becoming a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I gained significant experience as a Registered Nurse in inpatient and outpatient behavioral health, post-op, rehabilitation centers, and several nursing leadership roles.
What should a new client know about working with you?
My approach to psychiatry is rooted in empathy and evidence. I expect you to participate actively in your treatment and not just be a passive consumer. We will work together to improve your mental health.
What is your typical process for working with clients?

YOU WILL RECEIVE WELCOME EMAIL FROM EITHER HEADWAY OR SIMPLE PRACTICE DEPENDING ON YOUR INSURANCE PLAN, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO CREATE PATIENT ACCOUNT AND COMPLETE INTAKE PROCESS WHICH INCLUDES SIGING CONSENT FORMS, FILLING OUT SCREENING FORMS AND UPDATING PAYMENT INFORMATION WITHIN 24HOURS OF YOUR BOOKING TIME OR BEFORE APPOINTMENT TIME WHICHEVER COMES FIRST.
Our first session will be 60-75 minutes comprehensive evaluation. We’ll discuss your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and—most importantly—your goals for treatment."

Very emphatic, understanding, efficient, effective medication manager, an expert pharmacologist. She listens and took a tremendous amount of time and care to get to know me, my issues, my health history and goals going forward for treatment. Equally importantly, she is warm, approachable and easy to talk to. At the initial appointment she took the time to get to know me as a person AND patient. It wasn’t formulaic, and cookie cutter or clinical like others. I would recommend her to anyone with mental health issues or concerns interested in gaining insight into their problems and treatment options available. She discussed these with me in depth and made me feel I could not just participate in decision making but actually help direct it. The plan of care we created is collaborative, and as such I feel a sense of ownership and optimism. I would say anyone, whether they be have a lengthy history of working with psychiatrists or are new to treatment, could benefit from a session with her.

My second time using ZocDoc. I'm loving this app. I'm getting better results now on Zoc Doc than I did when searching through other websites, providers, caretakers....I'm all in with Zoc Doc. This doctor was very exceptional ?? again a great experience. I've seen the same mental health doctor for many years. When I moved, I was not looking forward to finding another. I went by my insurance and reviews. This lady is very very good. Super intelligent, listens, and hears what you are saying. We were able to tweak a few things and it worked for me. My new mental health doctor. I'm very relieved and pleased.

She was very kind and understanding, and really listened to my problems to properly diagnose me. She was willing to understand my needs as well as help me understand things every step of the way. I would recommend her to anyone who is trying to see if they have ADHD. She explained why she believed I had ADHD, due to the symptoms I explained to her. She asked so many questions and was very thorough. I really liked her and felt very safe and didn't feel judged. Book her today (I got a same day appointment)!
