About Dr. Russell Homewood
Born in Okinawa to military parents, he lived in several states until the age of 8, after which he was raised in Topeka, KS. Dr. Homewood brings a feeling of warmth and assurance to his practice. Patients have ranked him #1 in bedside manner. He’s caring, compassionate, and will put you at ease within minutes of your appointment. What Dr. Homewood loves about practicing medicine is the relationships that are built between himself and his patients. Besides treating disorders and diseases, he enjoys talking to patients about their families, interests, work, etc. Dr. Homewood is dedicated to building a mutually beneficial relationship with his patients. He listens and strives to understand the patient’s goals, while providing sound counsel about the patient’s various treatment options. He views the treatment plan as a partnership with the patient’s best interests in mind.
Dr. Homewood is board-certified in Family Medicine. He received his doctorate degree from A.T. Still University of Osteopathic Medicine and completed a 3 year family practice residency at the Phoenix Baptist Hospital. He graduated at the top of his class while remaining down to earth and easily approachable.
After completing the above education and certification, Dr. Homewood opened a private solo practice clinic in 2001. Homewood Family Medicine was a successful and rewarding primary care clinic in Mesa, AZ. It was owned and operated by Dr. Homewood for over 20 years. Dr. Homewood’s patients formed a deep and appreciative bond with him through many years of service and care. Because of the economic and work environment changes surrounding the pandemic, Dr. Homewood decided to sell his private practice in 2021. The majority of patients chose to continue seeing Doctor Homewood, even though he was now an employee of a large corporation. He has had zero complaints to the medical board.

Dr. H is always kind, gentle, & patient. He asks the right questions & genuinely listens. The best parts though? He’s always ready with a solution yet just as willing to listen to feedback on the solution & has alternative solutions ready. This is very rare in a doctor. He takes the time & does the research for your particular needs. I 10/10 recommend you schedule with him. Just as with my family, you’ll stick with him for years if do!

Dr. Homewood was exceptionally professional and easy to interact with in our virtual appointment. He was thorough in assessing my medical history, and was very personable as we discussed my treatment plan. He is very knowledgeable and experienced. My appointment with Dr. Homewood was very positive—I highly recommend meeting with him!

I have been seeing Dr. Homewood for well over 15 years now and have always found him to be a caring provider. He will take the time to listen, and will ask questions if he needs to clarify anything. It seems this is a rarity any more!
The only time I EVER experienced any issues was when he was affiliated with the company he is no longer with. Now that he is LIGHTHOUSE TO FREEDOM, he is again free to “Doctor” without the corporate oversight he, and his patients, had to endure.
