Getting to know Dr. Ryan Daniels

As a licensed clinical psychologist at Bryant West Psychology, I bring experience working with a broad range of individuals, from adolescents to older adults, including those who are seeking mental health treatment for the first time as well as those more familiar with the positive life changes that can be achieved through therapy. I have worked with patients experiencing a wide range of issues, such as depression and anxiety, major life transitions, grief and loss, work, family and relationship stress, complex trauma (abuse, neglect, exposure to violence) ,as well as those coping with severe mental illness, addiction and those who love someone who is addicted. Though I have been trained in a wide variety of treatment modalities (e.g. CBT, DBT, ACT and psychodynamic/relational therapy), I have always considered myself an integrative, person-centered clinician. I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, FL and my internship with Adelphi University at the Derner Consortium. I have also written articles and served on the board of numerous mental health organizations, such as the Florida chapter of Active Minds, an organization dedicated to reducing mental health stigma among teens and young adults. Success in therapy involves an increased capacity to negotiate life's challenges according to one's own values, needs, and desires.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a person-centered, relational psychologist, I strongly believe in the power of relationships to both heal and harm. Our past formative relationships and institutions we have relied on affect us well into adulthood. It is through freeing ourselves from these old patterns, and developing new ways of relating to ourselves and others, that we can heal. The therapeutic relationship helps to create these new paths forward, and it is within this relationship that both patient and therapist are empowered to work toward change and personal development.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My path to becoming a psychologist started with a strong desire to help others understand and navigate their emotional challenges. Throughout my career, I've worked with a diverse population, including children, adolescents and adults, across a wide range of issues: from patients seeking treatment for the first time to complex trauma and severe mental illness. These experiences have solidified my belief in a person-centered approach, where I focus on honoring each individual's values and supporting them as they overcome obstacles and achieve emotional growth. Each patient enters therapy with their own distinct experiences and challenges, and it is through the bond formed with these patients that I have shaped who I am as a psychologist. When I sit across from a patient, I see an individual with their own set of core values and beliefs, and from there, we begin our journey together.

Ongoing session: $300-330 for 55 minutes
  • Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay

  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront

More information on payments and coverage

Bryant West Psychology works with most insurance plans (whether in-network or out-of-network) to make the financials easy, hassle-free, and paper-work-free for you. We can bill your insurance for you, and you can pay us any deductible and co-pays by credit card or through Zelle, as well as the old-fashioned ways, such as check or cash. In-Network: Our clinicians are providers in the following networks: Aetna and its affiliated insurances (Allied Benefit Systems - Aetna, Christian Brothers Services - Aetna, Health Scope - Aetna, Meritain, Nippon, Trustmark ) and student health insurance at NYU, Columbia, New School, Fordham, FIT, and Pratt. In-network, your insurance company sets our fees, co-pays, and deductibles, making our service more affordable. We will discuss this with you. Out-of-Network: We bill all insurance companies, such as United Health Care, Oxford, Cigna, Blue Cross/Shield, and Beacon (to name a few). Depending on your plan, your insurance may pay up to 80% of our fee (and sometimes more). We will do our best to work with you to make payment arrangements that won't break the bank—that is, your bank.
