I've only had one issue with the pharmacy and both she and the office were helpful and available the whole time to help solve it. She is an excellent choice for a psychiatrist and I highly recommend. ”

Getting to know Dr. Safwa Zafar
Dr. Safwa Zafar has experience in treating psychiatric illness, including depression, anxiety, psychotic illness, bipolar disorder, trauma, and PTSD. She believes in working with patients and families in a collaborative and compassionate manner, and making patients feel heard. She uses the biopsychosocial model to create a comprehensive assessment and make therapy and medication recommendations. She has experience in working with refractory cases. Dr. Zafar completed her medical degree at St. George’s University, and then Psychiatric Residency at Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, New York. Dr. Zafar also earned her Fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai at Elmhurst Hospital. Dr. Zafar has a special interest in psychoanalysis and psychodynamic psychiatry and has completed additional education at New York Psychoanalytic Society & Institute.
