About Dr. Sahilys Fuentes
Hi there! My name is Dr. Sahilys Fuentes. I specialize in treating people with autoimmune disorders, gastrointestinal conditions, and women's health concerns like polycystic ovarian syndrome, menopause, hormonal imbalances, preconception care, and more. After having my son, I developed a passion for keeping families healthy and strive to help every member of the family. Before I dive into further details, let me tell you a little more about myself.
My journey to becoming a naturopathic doctor began as a very observant and thoughtful child. At the impressionable age of seven, I watched my father develop rheumatoid arthritis. This debilitating disease caused him to go from the dad who would always jump with me on the trampoline to the dad who could only watch from the side due to chronic joint pain. His journey has been quite a whirlwind, but I have seen how naturopathic medicine has been so beneficial to him.
My mother, a two-time breast cancer survivor, and several family members carry the BRCA1 mutation, which predisposes them to certain cancers, most commonly breast and ovarian cancer. Growing up and witnessing the challenges my family faced inspired me to pursue a career in medicine early on.
Through prayer and meditation, I became aware of Bastyr University, where I spent five years earning my Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree. After a total of nine years of undergraduate and graduate schooling, I am now a licensed Naturopathic Medical Doctor ready to help you. I am a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC), Naturopathic Medicine Institute (NMI), Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians (WANP), Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS), and the National Association of Environmental Medicine (NAEM).
