What should a new client know about working with you?

Please note that I do not accept EAP programs. Saima Hanif, MSN, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner offering evidence-based psychiatric care for patients of every age. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Western University of Health Sciences and earned her PMHNP Post-Master's Certificate at California State University, Los Angeles, where she is currently pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). Working with Saima means partnering with a provider who sees you as a whole person, not just a diagnosis. Her practice is centered on outpatient psychiatry, and she brings real depth to comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and thoughtful medication management. She cares for children, adolescents, and adults living with anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD and trauma-related conditions, and a range of mental health concerns. Your first visit is unhurried and thorough. Together you'll look at your current symptoms and how they're affecting your daily life, your mental health and medical history, the treatments you've tried before and how they felt, and the goals that matter most to you. That complete picture lets Saima shape a treatment plan built specifically around your needs rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Transparency and collaboration guide every conversation. As she discusses medication options, she explains how each one works, what realistic improvement looks like and when to expect it, and which side effects to watch for, always keeping your preferences at the center. Shared decision-making isn't just a phrase in her practice; it's how she works. Saima is committed to a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment where your questions are always welcome and your voice genuinely shapes your care. She also coordinates with therapists and other providers when it strengthens your treatment, because connected, consistent care supports the strongest outcomes and your path toward lasting wellness.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Please note that I do not accept EAP programs. Every patient's care opens with a full psychiatric evaluation. In that first meeting, I move at an unhurried pace to take in the whole of your situation: which symptoms you're facing, when they surfaced, how intense they've become, and the ways they ripple through your everyday life—alongside your psychiatric and medical background, the treatments you've had before and how your body and mind responded, your family's mental health patterns, and the outcomes you're aiming for. To arrive at an accurate diagnosis, I rely on DSM-5-TR criteria, since knowing exactly what we're up against is what makes care precise and effective. Prescribing is where my work is centered, and I do it deliberately, anchored in the evidence. I'll explain how a medication does its job, what degree of improvement is realistic and on what schedule, and the side effects worth keeping an eye on—all while your questions and preferences guide the choice. What I don't want is for you to walk away holding a prescription and little else; my hope is that you leave each visit clear-headed and truly part of the plan. Return visits are about seeing where you've landed—how treatment is taking hold, whether side effects have cropped up, and what adjustments make sense. My appointments lean toward evaluation and medication rather than formal psychotherapy, but I always set aside space to hear how you're really doing, sort through what's hard, and teach you about your condition and its treatment. I see children, teens, and adults across many diagnoses, and I stay in step with therapists and other clinicians so nothing about your care falls out of sync. Questions between visits are always welcome—consistent, watchful support is what carries people furthest toward lasting wellness. My aim is a warm, judgment-free setting where openness comes easily and we can truly work side by side.
