What should a new client know about working with you?

Please note that I do not accept EAP programs. Saima Hanif, MSN, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides evidence-based psychiatric care to patients across all ages. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing at Western University of Health Sciences and completed her PMHNP Post-Master's Certificate at California State University, Los Angeles, where she is currently working toward her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). Choosing Saima means having a provider who treats you as a full person rather than a label. Her focus is outpatient psychiatry, and she brings genuine care and depth to thorough psychiatric evaluations and thoughtful medication management. She works with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD and trauma-related conditions, and many other mental health concerns. Your initial appointment is comprehensive and never rushed. You'll talk through your current symptoms and their impact on your everyday life, your mental health and medical background, past treatments and how they affected you, and the goals most important to you. Gathering that full context lets Saima design a plan tailored specifically to you instead of relying on a standard template. Openness and teamwork shape every discussion. As you consider medication options, she'll describe how each one works, what realistic progress looks like and when it typically arrives, and which side effects deserve attention, with your preferences always front and center. For Saima, shared decision-making is more than a phrase; it's the way she practices. She is dedicated to a warm, nonjudgmental setting where your questions are welcomed and your voice truly guides your care. When it benefits your treatment, she coordinates with therapists and other providers as well, because well-connected, consistent care produces the best results on your journey toward lasting wellness.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Please note that I do not accept EAP programs. Care with each patient begins with a thorough psychiatric evaluation. In that first visit, I set aside unrushed time to understand the whole picture: your current symptoms, when they first showed up, how intense they are, and the ways they're shaping your everyday life, along with your mental health and medical history, treatments you've tried before and how you responded, your family psychiatric background, and the outcomes you're hoping to reach. I draw on DSM-5-TR criteria to arrive at an accurate diagnosis, because clearly understanding what we're working with is the foundation of precise, effective treatment. We then create a treatment plan as a team. Medication management is my central focus, and I prescribe carefully and in line with evidence-based standards. I'll walk you through how each medication works, what realistic improvement looks like and when to expect it, and which side effects to keep an eye on—always keeping your preferences and questions at the heart of the decision. My goal is for you to leave each visit feeling informed and truly part of the process, not simply handed a prescription. Follow-up visits focus on tracking your progress, seeing how you're responding to treatment, watching for side effects, and making thoughtful adjustments when needed. Although my appointments emphasize psychiatric evaluation and medication management rather than formal talk therapy, I always leave room to check in on how you're doing as a whole, work through any challenges, and provide psychoeducation so you understand both your condition and your care. I treat children, adolescents, and adults across a variety of conditions, and I collaborate with therapists and other providers to keep your care well-integrated. Between visits, I remain reachable for questions or concerns, because steady, attentive support drives the best outcomes on your path toward lasting wellness.
