Getting to know Sandra Sloan

Taking the first step toward mental health care isn't always easy, and finding a provider who truly listens can make a meaningful difference. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and other mental health concerns. Whether you've been managing your symptoms for years or are seeking support for the first time, my goal is to provide a space where you feel comfortable, understood, and respected. At Century City Psychiatry, I believe in looking beyond a diagnosis to understand your experiences, challenges, and personal goals so we can work together toward a treatment plan that fits your individual needs.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, insomnia, and perinatal mental health concerns. I understand that every person's experience with mental health is unique, and there is no single approach that works for everyone. My focus is on building a trusting relationship where you feel heard, supported, and involved in decisions about your care. Whether you're exploring medication for the first time or have been receiving treatment for years, I'll take the time to understand your concerns, explain your options, and work with you to develop a plan that supports your goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work together begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, where we'll discuss your concerns, mental health history, previous treatments, and what you hope to achieve through care. I believe it's important to understand the whole person, not just the symptoms, before making treatment recommendations. From there, we'll develop an individualized plan that may include medication management, education, and practical strategies to support your well-being. During follow-up visits, we'll review your progress, address any concerns, and make adjustments when appropriate. Throughout your care, my priority is to make sure you feel informed, comfortable asking questions, and supported every step of the way.

Quality psychiatric care shouldn't mean going out of network. I'm in-network with most major insurance plans, so you can get thorough, unhurried care using the coverage you already have. Insurance accepted: Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross (including WGA, DGA, MPIHP/IATSE, and UC SHIP), Blue Shield of California, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna/Evernorth, Medicare, MultiPlan/PHCS, TRICARE/TriWest, and UnitedHealthcare. Before your first visit: Our team verifies your benefits ahead of time and lets you know what to expect, so there are no surprises. You're responsible for any copay, coinsurance, or deductible under your plan. UC SHIP members (UCLA students): Your plan requires a referral from UCLA CAPS before your first visit. Please have your CAPS referral number ready when booking. Without it, your visit may not be covered. No insurance or prefer to self-pay? Self-pay rates are listed above. We accept all major credit cards, and HSA/FSA cards.
