Hi, I’m Dr. Sandy Hussain, DNP, PMHNP-BC, a compassionate board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, based in New Jersey. I specialize in patient-centered mental health care, focusing on medication management to ensure accessibility and tailored support for each individual's unique needs.
I completed my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and Post-Master’s Certificate (PMHNP-BC) at Wilkes University, and my earlier studies in Biology, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), and Master's in Nursing (MSN) were all at Montclair State University. I also have an Associate's degree from County College of Morris. This educational background supports my commitment to providing informed and effective care.
I offer both virtual medication management sessions and in-person sessions by appointment only, located in West Orange, NJ. My services are available exclusively to patients residing in the state of New Jersey.
I do not offer therapy or counseling services. The provided care is centered on psychiatric evaluations and medication support.

** In-Person Visit Requirement for Certain Prescriptions: **
New Jersey regulations require an in-person visit every 3 months for patients who are prescribed certain controlled medications used in ADHD treatment. These visits must be completed in person to continue receiving refills. All other follow-ups may be done through secure telehealth.

Medication Management: If medication is part of your treatment plan, I will carefully manage and monitor your medication. We'll discuss any concerns or side effects you might have, ensuring that your medication is effective and well-tolerated. Ongoing Support and Adjustments: Mental health care is an evolving process. We'll continually assess your progress and make necessary adjustments to your treatment plan. I am committed to providing consistent support and guidance throughout your journey.

I am so glad I decided to take a chance and book a last-minute appointment with Dr. Hussain today. She is a great listener and very kind, understanding, and knowledgeable. She took the full hour getting to know me and to understand my specific mental health concerns and needs. At the end of the appointment, she sent in the appropriate medication and I left with a treatment plan and suggestions for therapies to consider. I am so happy to have finally found a female provider who makes me feel heard and comfortable.

Sandy Hussain is seriously the best Doctor or caretaker I have ever experienced. She combines professionalism and a deep knowledge of her craft with deeply personal and empathetic care. I have been to many doctors, therapists, and caretakers in my life and have always been treated like a patient or client, but Sandy is a real gem. I have been under the care of Dr. Hussain for a year now. When I was looking for a mental health provider for medication monitoring, I was looking for someone who is open-minded, a provider who will not dismiss my symptoms my feelings and my own research as many providers do.
Dr. Hussain has always checked on more than the effect of medication. She has always been open to suggestions and and mostly she has always been empowering and culturally sensitive during her assessments and conversation conversations which is much appreciated.
Some of the other positive things that makes me always go back to Dr Hussain is her accessibility as she responses to all emails and messages in a very timely manner.
