“It turns out that Dr. Park is not in my network, which she made sure to let me know of ahead of our appointment via email. When I said I can’t afford to pay out of pocket she offered to send me a list of recommended therapists in my network. Such a kind offer and well above her level of obligation. Thank you!!”

“ I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Kim. Because my concerns were deeply rooted in my bicultural background (U.S. and Korea), it was essential for me to find a psychologist with literacy in both cultures. Luckily, Dr. Kim has exactly that cultural literacy. I especially appreciated the free consultation call. Rather than treating it as a brief procedural step, she took the time to genuinely understand my needs and make sure that we were a good fit. Even before our first formal session, she reviewed my concerns and followed up multiple times within 24 hours to ensure her guidance was accurate and that we were aligned. For me, two qualities define a great mental health professional: expertise-based sensibility and genuine empathy. Dr. Kim has both. I felt her care right away. For anyone who has been struggling for a long time, I sincerely hope her guidance can help you navigate your way toward the light just as it has helped me.”

Getting to know Dr. Sanghee Park

Hi. My name is Dr. SangHee “Sophie” Park, and with deep passion and commitment, I aim for a therapeutic journey towards self-discovery and lasting well-being. My approach to psychotherapy is integrative. I consciously and flexibly choose the best techniques based on the nature of issues you bring in, your unique personal history and the goals we set together. Within a broader relational and humanistic framework, I draw from different approaches, including psychodynamic theories, cognitive-behavioral, acceptance-based and mindfulness-based therapy. This means that I believe strong therapeutic relationships are at the heart of positive change. I also believe that human beings have innate propensity toward growth, wisdom and healing and my role as a therapist is to remove any obstacles that get in the way. In a warm, supportive and collaborative environment, we can together make meaning of your experience, identify unhelpful patterns in your life, problem-solve and build inner and outer resources around you. I work with individuals on various issues, including, but not limited to anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, performance at school/work, life transitions, identity and acculturation. Coming from a multicultural background myself, I am especially committed to creating a culturally sensitive environment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My educational background includes a major in psychology and sociology from Yonsei University, in Seoul, South Korea, a master’s degree in school psychology and a doctoral degree in combined school-clinical child psychology from Pace University in New York. Before returning to school for advanced degrees, I worked internationally in banking for years and holds another master’s degree from George Washington University which gives me a broader perspective in my work. I have trained and worked in a variety of settings, including community mental health clinics, inpatient/outpatient hospitals, schools, and private practice, providing individual and group therapy and psychological evaluation for individuals across the lifespan. As a bilingual psychologist, I work in both English and Korean and have conversational fluency in Japanese.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Whether this is your first time in individual therapy or you have been in therapy before, I am excited to accompany you in this journey towards growth and healing. During our complimentary phone consultation, I will evaluate your specific needs and circumstances to ensure we are a good match and I feel confident working with you to address your symptoms. We’ll also cover details about scheduling, billing, and address any inquiries you might have. If we agree to move forward, we will schedule a one hour intake meeting whereby I will seek to learn more about what is currently going on that is bringing you into therapy, more about your past, and your goals for therapy.

Dr. Park is absolutely amazing! I have spent months looking for the "right" therapist for me. Someone who really is present and is truly focused on listening as well as getting to the root of different "problems." In this day in age, so many services feel just like a transaction, but working with Dr. Park is the opposite. Which is exactly what I was searching for.
Dr. Park is an insightful and compassionate psychologist who creates a safe and supportive environment for her clients. She listens attentively and offers thoughtful guidance that feels both practical and deeply empathetic. I highly recommend Dr. Park for anyone seeking meaningful, long-term personal growth.
Dr. Park is very calming to talk to. She has been great in helping me deal with my stress and anxiety. She makes me feel very comfortable throughout our sessions.
Extremely misleading insurance information on Zocdoc and on the official website. Absolute lack of communication on the insurance leading up to the consultation. Cannot comment on therapeutic competency, but serious concerns about communication, which would be a cornerstone of this field.

Dr. Park is a compassionate and insightful therapist who creates a safe, supportive space for growth. She really cares about her patients. Highly recommended.
Dr. Park is great. She makes you feel comfortable, takes time to check in, and guides you through the process with genuine care.
The office never reached out to me with a link to my appointment. When I called to see if I could get my telehealth link, the office was closed.

Dr. Park was warm & made me feel comfortable from our very first visit. She listened intently & allowed me to share without fear of judgement. If you are looking for a kind & knowledgeable doctor, I highly recommend Dr. Park.
Dr. Park was very good at helping me to better understand what I was going through at a very difficult time. I really appreciated her use of tests in combination with our therapy. I highly recommend her to others.
Right from my very first session with Dr Park, I found it so easy to speak with her. I didn't know what to expect from therapy, but she made it very straightforward, and I've already started to make some big leaps forward, so I can say it works. Great job, Doc!
I've really benefitted from my time working with Dr Sophie. She's so warm and friendly, and really puts me at my ease every session. I wasn't in the best of places emotionally when I first started at CPP, but I can say that I'm back on track now, and that wouldn't have come about without her help.
