“The physician listened was very attentive to learning in depth about my history and my lifestyle to know why, or when my symptoms started, asked probing questions about my family and habits to get a better understanding of how to provide care I appreciated that he actually listened to me instead of having me answer a generic questionnaire, saying oh, from one to five, how high is your tolerance five or three. Doc seemed open to proceeding with managing my mental health, the first conversation we did not cover or discuss managing medication’s. It was not clear but seems the physician was more comfortable setting up a second appointment before discussing medication management. I look forward to seeing where this relationship goes and getting some actual help from this doctor. To find a mental health physician who seems to actually listen, hear what your patient is saying, that at the minimum makes a huge difference and is detrimental to providing a person with adequate care. Getting to know Dr. Sanjoy Sathpathy
From an early age, my parents encouraged in me curiosity and inquisitiveness about humanity. This drew me to the profession of psychiatry, which offers the opportunity to have a positive impact on individuals.
Empowering each patient is of my highest concern, and I make every effort to instill confidence and provide support throughout the healing process. I strive to incorporate all available community resources to offer my patients the best possible treatment and outcomes. I believe that Interventional Psychiatry holds a prominent place in the field of mental health. I have seen patients achieve partial remission or seek options beyond medication and talk therapy, such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).
I completed my medical education at MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Brahmapur, earning my Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. I then completed my residency in Psychiatry at Brookdale University Hospital & Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the same institution.
Outside of work, my greatest pleasure is spending time with my wife and two children. I also enjoy reading historical fiction and traveling.

This was the first time I did a virtual appointment. The Doctor asked a few questions of me as the parent then spoke to my son, who the appointment was for. We accomplished what we needed and will meet again in two to three weeks for a follow up.

Dr. Sathpathy was so attentive and thorough in my psychiatric evaluation. He asked lots of questions and truly wanted to get to know me -- something a lot of psychiatrists unfortunately don't always do. I felt very comfortable with him and am glad to have established care with Dr. Sathpathy :)
