“I really enjoyed my first appointment with Sarah. She was kind and welcoming, easy to chat with. She answered all of my questions and had good knowledge and information. She did not rush me and took time to ensure my concerns were addressed. Her office was a nice vibe and less doctor office-like than the typical setting, she had live plants and pictures of her own animals and animals she had fostered which I loved! I will be going back. It wasn’t hard to get to her building as there is a parking garage nearby and was relatively easy to find her individual office as well. ”

I visited Sarah after reading many positive reviews about her bedside manner and approach to health. As someone who has significant medical anxiety and previous trauma with doctors, I was eager to try out a NP with a more personable approach to care. Overall, I found Sarah to be efficient, friendly, easy to talk to, and approachable. She took her time explaining things and made me feel at ease throughout the visit. My only issue was Sarah's attempt at cleaning my ears. She observed that they were very impacted and offered to clean them. The cleaning was very painful, caused my ear canal to bleed, and resulted in significant hearing loss. I ended up having to visit an ENT a few days later to get the issue resolved. The ENT shared that the scarring and pain in my ears could have been avoided if I was referred to an ENT right away. I would say, see her for great, holistic care, but leave technical procedures to other medical professionals.

I scheduled my annual check-up/well-woman exam appointment with Sarah L. and I had a good experience and would definitely go to her again. She is very friendly and has a good bedside manner, explaining what to expect during the exams before she touches you. I really appreciated that she listened to all of my concerns and asked lots of follow up questions. I did not feel rushed at all, and she took her time to examine me. She ordered some follow-up testing to better understand my symptoms and made recommendations about where to seek the follow-up care services/scans given my insurance. She made me feel comfortable and overall I had a good experience with her. LQBTQ+ friendly provider!

I just moved to Illinois and needed a primary care provider who accepted my insurance and was taking new patients. The office is unconventional in the best way. There is no labyrinth of exam rooms or people to deal with (including no receptionist). When I walked in I was greeted by the provider who clearly was expecting me. She reviewed with me the forms I'd already completed (in my experience it often seems like providers have you fill out a bunch of forms but never look at them again) and did a thorough interview about my health history. I was not asked to change into a robe so there was no need to undress. She did the exam over the clothes I'd worn into the office, drew blood herself without passing me off to an assistant or a lab, and ordered my prescriptions live with me there. Some people might be put off by the informality of the office, but I found the interaction really reassuring and refreshing, like we were humans with a mutual respect for each other.

Not the best bedside manner, I did feel like she listened to me and believed my symptoms up until she found out I had a history of mental health struggles. Then she was very quick to assume my symptoms had more to do with anxiety. I was hoping to find a practitioner that was less quick to recommend pharmaceuticals, but I do think most doctors and nurses are trained that way. She does do her own blood work which was very helpful, but you will be the one who needs to submit the insurance paperwork later on for that (I wasn't made aware of that at the time of the test).
If you are looking for a quick prescription or a test I think she would be good for that, it just didn't work for me because I was looking for more.

Sarah was amazing! As a black woman, it can be hard to find a practitioner that listens and genuinely cares.
The other reviews are right about her listening and friendly demeanor (they’re what convinced me to give her a try!).
You can tell she genuinely cares about getting to the root cause of things. I highly recommend! 10/10.
