Getting to know Sarah Marrone

Hi, my name is Sarah, and I’m a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner serving clients in New York. I specialize in treating anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, insomnia, and sleep issues, life transitions, trauma/PTSD, and other sleep-related disorders. With 8 years of nursing experience and advanced psychiatric training from D’Youville College, I bring clinical expertise and deep empathy to my work. I’m passionate about destigmatizing mental healthcare, and together with my colleagues at Lavender Psychiatry, I’m on a mission to create a world where feelings are felt, respected, and cared for. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered in their mental health journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

PLEASE NOTE, I’M IN-NETWORK WITH AETNA, ANTHEM NY, BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD, CDPHP, CIGNA, MEDICARE, OSCAR, OXFORD, AND UNITED HEALTHCARE. I DO NOT ACCEPT MEDICAID. My style is warm, engaging, and personable. I value forming a strong alliance with each client, and collaborating on all treatment decision-making. I work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and many different walks of life, including students, parents, professionals, trades, service industry, retail, entrepreneurs, creatives and tech experts. Starting treatment can be a scary and intimidating process, I’ve successfully treated many people who are new to psychiatric care. My style is warm, engaging, and personable. What is your typical process for working with clients?

Booking Process: My office will email you a self-assessment to ensure I’m able to help you. If we’re a fit, we’ll reach out to confirm a new appointment time. I always keep slots available each week for new clients. Your First Visit: The initial session is a comprehensive, one-hour evaluation which allows me to understand your current symptoms and difficulties, and learn about important aspects of your past psychiatric, medical, social, educational, and family histories. At the end of the session, we’ll determine the best treatment course. Session frequency ranges from weekly to monthly, depending on the type of treatment you’re looking for. If you’re already seeing a therapist, I’m happy to collaborate with them while guiding the medication aspect of your treatment. However, many of my clients see me for both therapy and medication management. My practice, Lavender Psychiatry, is founded and fueled by board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioners who create therapeutic journeys that are kind, convenient and transparent so that people can flourish. We have a fantastic team that works together to ensure our clients are well taken care of. This includes our care concierge team who is available 7 days a week between your appointments, to help answer questions and assist with any issues regarding coverage and prescriptions etc. We also have covering providers in case I’m away and an urgent matter arises. I look forward to meeting you and helping you in your journey to a brighter future!

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront
