“A tree that is unbending is easily broken.” Tao Te Ching — Lao Tzu. One of Aesop's fables, “The Oak and the Reeds,” reflects this same idea—that a rigid oak will break in a major storm, whereas the flexible reeds live on. We cannot avoid life's storms, yet we can find ways to weather them and perhaps come out the other side a bit stronger. I believe that the key to this is resilience. It is the ability to spring back from adversity. To bend but not break. To face the winds of life while also being strong in one's core and true to one's values. And after the storm quiets, to stand up straight and tall, unbroken. I earned my Doctor of Medicine from the University of South Florida and completed my residency in Psychiatry at the University of Washington. My goal is to help you build your resilience.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I take a collaborative and balanced approach to psychiatric care. This means first listening to you in an empathic and supportive way to fully understand your goals in seeking care. From there, we work together to establish a treatment plan. This plan may include a combination of various modalities including medication management, psychotherapy, mindfulness, nutrition, and exercise. I look at each patient as an individual and strive to provide care that addresses the individual's unique needs. I see adult patients (18 to 60 years) and am experienced with treating a wide range of psychiatric conditions. I am currently only seeing patients through telepsychiatry in the state of Washington. The following is a summary of conditions I treat: Depression Anxiety Trauma and PTSD Bipolar Disorder OCD (Obsessive-compulsive disorder) Panic Disorder Adjustment Disorders including managing life's challenging transitions Grief Support during pregnancy and postpartum period

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Please note as I am an individual provider in a small practice setting, there are some services that I am not able to provide. I am not able to provide treatment for the following: patients under the age of 17, severe eating disorders, chronic suicidality, dementia, severe alcohol or substance dependence, domestic violence, and psychiatric emergencies. In addition, I do not provide court ordered treatment or evaluations, disability/work related evaluations, fitness for duty assessments, controlled substances. There are certain conditions that are frequently treated with controlled substances including ADHD, insomnia, and anxiety. Though I am able to provide treatment for these conditions, I am not able to prescribe controlled substances due to federal limitations (“Ryan Haight Act”) around telepsychiatry.
