“She is a fantastic provider. She listened to everything I had to say she understood how severe my symptoms were and she gave me the help that I was looking for and that I needed and just an eight hours I was able to schedule an interview and schedule an appointment to the dentist that I haven’t been to in five years because that’s how long I’ve been off my medication. So I want to thank you doctor and if you’re looking for a provider that listens to your concerns. Choose her. She’s amazing! God Bless.”

Getting to know Scholastica Nwadiugwu

Welcome to Santa Mater Maris Behavioral Health. I’m Scholastica C. Nwadiugwu, DNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, a dual board-certified Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, whole-person care. I specialize in psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, medication management and supportive psychotherapy for conditions such as anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and trauma-related concerns. My experience across outpatient, inpatient, and behavioral health settings allows me to support individuals with a wide range of behavioral health needs. At Santa Mater Maris Behavioral Health, my approach is collaborative, culturally sensitive, and evidence-based. I work closely with each patient to develop personalized treatment plans in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment. Our mission is to promote healing, hope, and wholeness by caring for the mind and body while honoring each individual’s values, dignity, and unique life journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I provide a structured, supportive, and patient-centered approach focused on effective medication management, while also integrating brief therapeutic techniques into our visits. My style is warm, collaborative, and goal-oriented. I create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can openly share your concerns, while we work together to develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs. Visits are typically focused and efficient, with time dedicated to assessing symptoms, monitoring progress, and making thoughtful medication adjustments. In addition to medication management, I incorporate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), supportive therapy, and psychoeducation to help you build practical coping skills and better understand your condition. I have experience supporting adolescents and adults, including individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma-related conditions, and substance use challenges. I take a holistic approach, recognizing the connection between mental and physical health. During your first visit, we will complete a comprehensive evaluation and establish clear treatment goals. Follow-up visits focus on tracking progress, optimizing your treatment plan, and supporting your overall well-being. You can expect professionalism, open communication, and compassionate care, with a focus on helping you achieve meaningful and lasting improvement.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I begin with a comprehensive initial evaluation where we review your history, current concerns, symptoms, and treatment goals. This first visit helps me gain a full understanding of your needs and determine the most appropriate plan of care. From there, we develop a personalized treatment plan that may include medication management along with brief, evidence-based therapeutic support psychotherapy and psychoeducation. Follow-up visits are typically structured and focused. We review your progress, discuss any side effects or concerns, and make adjustments to your treatment as needed. I also provide practical tools and education to help you manage symptoms between visits. Throughout our work together, I emphasize collaboration, open communication, and respect for your individual values. My goal is to provide consistent support while helping you achieve stable, meaningful improvement over time.
